Performance Task in Math 8

MATHEMATICS 8 PERFORMANCE STANDARD

The learner is able to formulate real - life problems involving factors of polynomials, rational algebraic expressions,
linear equations and inequalities in two variables, systems of linear equations and inequalities in two variables and
linear functions, and solve these problems accurately using a variety of strategies.

GOAL Your task is to make any layout such as kitchen, garden, room, playground, backyard, etc.

ROLE Lay-out artist.

AUDIENCE Students and Teachers

Your friend is collecting layouts of kitchen, garden, room, playground, backyard, etc. He want you to
create any of those layouts whose area is described in algebraic form (perfect square trinomials,
difference of two squares and sum and difference of two cubes) because he is not yet certain about
the length and width of these layouts. He showed you the following sample.
