what is the meaning of freelancing ?

Essentially, a freelance job is one where a person works for themselves,
rather than for a company. While freelancers do take on contract work for
companies and organizations, they are ultimately self-employed.

Freelancing means to work as an independent company rather than be

employed by someone else. Freelancers are self-employed and often referred to
as independent contractors.

Is defined by the term freelance a person who exercises a professional

activity with the quality of independent worker. This employee does not have a
long-term contract like fixed-term or permanent employees, but carries out his
professional activity in the form of assignments, which he invoices to his clients.

Indeed, the term freelance is actually used to qualify an independent

worker  offering his services or the sale of goods and merchandise to customers.

The term freelance therefore designates an independent worker, in opposition to

the status of employee defined according to the Social Security Code, by the fact
that he is not subject to any relationship of subordination (employer, principal,
client, etc.) as part of its missions with its customers. Freelancers are therefore
independent workers who organize and set their own working conditions.

Why is it called freelancing?

Freelancer or freelancing are terms currently used to mean a person who is self-
employed, and is in the business of selling their services and skills to different
employers for a specified time period.

‘Free’ is derived from a Germanic word that means to ‘love’, while ‘lance’ is
akin to the French word that means to ‘launch’, or discharge with force. Other
words similar to freelancer are independent worker, and independent contractor.
