Islamophobia

Since the concept of human justice comes, Human life has changed a lot as nowadays

equity between people became an obligation to humanity, yet there are people who still prefer

their race over others as they consider themselves on top of humans; in other words, racism

still exists worldwide. One aspect of this social phenomenon is Islamophobia; this
phenomenon is widely spread especially in non-Muslim countries in which Muslims suffer so

much from this discrimination which came after different causes.

Islamophobia is a widespread phenomenon in non-Muslim regions that represents one

form of racism against Muslims; this phenomenon was born for several causes. One cause of

Islamophobia is the hatred of Muslims. According to Dr. Munazza Sultana Although it wasn't

prevalent in November 1997, Islamophobia was justified because "anti-Muslim prejudice has

developed so much and so swiftly in recent years that a new item in the language is needed."

in its first. According to the term "Islamophobia," three phenomena are involved: Unfounded

hostility toward Islam; as a result of this hostility, Muslim communities, and individuals

one thing is that Islamophobia is a result of hatred against Muslims which creates a sort of

discrimination against them. In other words, they would be conflicts between Muslims and

non-Muslims in terms of communication and cohabitation since there is a one-sided hatred

between two people neglecting their origins.

In addition to hatred, Terrorism is one cause of Islamophobia.” According to the West,

Islam is inferior. It is thought to be illogical, antiquated, and has barbaric characteristics.

Islam endorses terrorism and other forms of violent crime. In the global political sphere, Islam

has a violent ideology”(Islamophobia in Context of Freedom of Speech: A Critical Analysis of

Media ...: Discovery Service for Mohammed VI Library, n.d.). That’s why terrorism is one of

the main causes of Islamophobia; in other words; Terrorism which is a big loss of human

beings causes hatred. And since some Muslims conform to the regulations of their religion

and become terrorists that will reflect a bad image of Islam which makes people fell either

afraid or hostile towards Islam.

 Moreover, another cause of Islamophobia is the media which has a big role in wide

spreading Islamophobia. “Unfortunately, the mass media, especially electronic media, became

an instrument and a cause of Islamophobia widespread around the globe, mainly through the

canals of news about violence, radicalism, and terrorism which are often associated or

identified with Islam. Therefore, it can be described that the media is loaded with political

representation. That’s why Stuart Hall revealed that the media does not merely reproduce

reality or covering the event as it is. Reality was actually established and perpetuated by their

language practices. In other words, the media not only transmit the meaning but establish or

fact that media is one of the causes of Islamophobia as they establish or create the meaning of

reality in addition to transmitting it. That’s why media is way that widespread Islamophobia

by creating fake news that impact negatively the Islam’s reputation and make people afraid of

Muslims.

In a nutshell, We have to acknowledge that Racism still exists in our daily life, and

one aspect of this phenomenon is Islamophobia which a common occurrence in non-Muslim

areas and is one kind of racism directed against Muslims. This came after several causes

which are hatred that eliminates relationships between Muslims and non-Muslims; in

addition, to terrorism which causes hatred toward Islam and media that vulgarize Islam.
