Mandatory military service is not only another term proposal.

It is the idea that

undermines one of the basic principles of the free world. Mandatory public
service is a frontal attack on this law, Because it is the form of forced labour-
literally indeed. Under most proposals, they could get to do the forced work for
months or even years on end. There are around 85 countries that have some
obligatory military training including Turkey, Korea Israel, etc. France was the first
to introduce mandatory conscription as a condition to the citizenship to provide
forces for their French Revolution.

My opinion about this is even though its for the country it is a waste of time for
our youth and more likely to create corruption and abuse. It is also a violation of
the constitution’s first amendment rights to free speech aside from costs, it
jeopardizes the aim of professionalizing the AFP and contrasts quantity over
quality. Besides, why aim for Mandatory Military Service if we cannot solve some
issues and problems in the ROTC program alone. And to add, it destroys the
exclusiveness of the AFP organization.
