Tiktok Trends are a Serious Risk

Tiktok entertaining trends and challenges have an immense negative impact on the physical

health of young people. Thirteen to 24-year-olds make up 69 percent of …… Many people tend

to follow various challenges blindly, without being aware that they might be risking their lives,

for example, the milk crate climbing trend. Baulknan (2021) explains that trends such as the milk

crate climbing challenge have led to the injury of several participants. Many patients have been

reported at hospitals having many conditions such as paralysis, joint dislocation, and even

anterior cruciate ligament, just due to this Tiktok fad becoming viral. In addition, Tiktok trends

have been shown to spread much misinformation between teenagers these days, in which it can

be a cause of hallucinations and even drug poisoning due to encouraging the overdosage of

drugs. Bryne (2020) has claimed that in 2020 a challenge of overdosing on Benadryl

antihistamine was revealed to be a leading cause of serious cardiovascular diseases and even

death of some teens. This shows how brain washing these challenges have become! Another

treacherous Tiktok trend is DIY teeth whitening, which also encouraged teenagers to use

hydrogen peroxide instead of healthy and normal ways, which may result in irritated gums and
even toxicity. Bryne (2020) reflects that the use of increased amounts of hydrogen peroxide

without the right supervision is a huge risk. This is why Tiktok trends and challenges can

obviously be hazardous to young people’s physical health, and must be controlled by parents as

soon as possible!
