Overview 2011
Dear friends of Inclusion Europe, Spain will soon be under the lens of the UNCRPD Committee. The state Spanish report on disability will be examined by the UN advisory body in September, together with an alternative report submitted by the Spanish Committee of Representatives of People with Disabilities (CERMI). Shadow reports are a positive method to present alternative information when monitoring disability at a national level and contribute to broaden the Committees vision. One of the rights guaranteed by the CRPD is Inclusive education, but inclusive schools are far from being the norm. However, there are many good examples and available information on social media, according to a recent research by Inclusion Europe. Using social networks has become a useful way to share practical information, explore alternatives and raise awareness on many specific issues. Studying in inclusive schools is one of the rights that many children with intellectual disabilities are denied, but is not the only one. Childrens Rights for All final conference will tackle this issue by showing the results of a comprehensive transnational research on the implementation of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child with a focus on children with intellectual disabilities. Registration for the event is already available and more information about the conference is provided in one of the articles below. For further updates, you can consult our e-journal. Best wishes, Information team Inclusion Europe
