Module Description and Learning Outcomes


The course of Schools of Criticism offers units on prominent trends of literary criticism,
theories, texts, and ideological movements. Throughout the academic year, the literary
related movements and thoughts, are taught with relation to literary theory and criticism.
The course provides a basic frame of reference that studies the historical advent of
criticism, including a survey of the leading critics that develop criticism and its theories.
Description
Another phase of the course covers the contemporary development of critical theories
thereby lecturing Formalism, reader-oriented criticism, Feminism, Marxism,
Psychoanalysis, Structuralism and Deconstruction, New Historicism, postcolonialism,
and Ecocriticism

Learning By the end of the course, students will be able to:

Learning and Teaching Strategies


Techniques used to accomplish the course objectives:
1. Lectures are presented interactively; datashow and whiteboard are used,
2. Students are supposed actively attending classes through essay writings, quizzes, group
working, project preparations, and preparing assignments.
3.Through student-centered approaches, students are given the opportunity to share, discuss and
explain their in-depth analyses about theoretical ideologies, and provide their reflections on the
covered topics.
