Construction of Test a) Method of Construction Each pile shall be constructed in a manner described in the method statement for the construction of the working piles and any variation shall be done only with prior approval. b) Boring Record A detailed record of the conditions experienced and of the progress during the drilling shall be made. The pile test shall commence only after the strength of the cubes taken from the pile concrete reaches the specified concrete compressive strength of 60 Mpa as per approved shop drawing. ¢) Preparation of the Pile to be Tested The pile shall be prepared for testing as required in accordance to the site conditions by building up to required level to facilitate setting up of the load testing apparatus. 6. Supervision 2. The setting-up of pile testing equipment shall be carried out under competent supervision and the equipment shall be checked to ensure that the set-up is satisfactory before the commencement of load application. b. Approved Third Party Laboratory qualified and competent to witness and prepare a report on the pile test shall be appointed by NAVAYUGA for the purpose. The tests shall be carried out under the direction of an experienced and competent supervisor experienced with the test equipment and test procedure. Safety Precautions a. General Design, erection and dismantling of the pile test reaction system and the application of load shall be carried out according to the requirements of the various applicable statutory regulations concerned with lifting and handling heavy equipment and shall safeguard operators and others who may from time to time be in the vicinity of a test from all avoidable hazards. b. Tension Piles as Reaction Piles Tension piles as reaction piles constitute the principal components of the reaction system; they are so designed that they will resist the forces applied to them safely and without excessive deformation which could cause a safety hazard during the work. Such piles (which, unless approved, will not be working piles) shall be constructed in the specified locations, and all bars, links shall be aligned to provide a stable reaction in the direction required. Any welding employed to extend to a reaction frame shall be carried out so that the full strength of the system is adequate and unimpaired. ¢. Testing Equipment The testing equipment consist of a structural steel built up section designed and fabricated for an ultimate load testing capacity in excess of the required loads for testing. Beam or beams of required length is designed for an ultimate capacity of 16000KN as per the test load requirements. = Hydraulic Jacks of capacity 1500 Tons shalll be mobilized at the site along with power pack pumps. Calibration certificates shall be shown at the time of tests. The load for the test shall be applied by jack of adequate capacity. In all cases it shall be ensured that when the hydraulic jacks are mounted on the pile head the whole system would be stable up to the maximum load to be applied. d. Pile Head for the Test The test piles shall be cast above the top of the reinforcement level. It shall be ensured that all contaminated concrete shall be removed by overflowing and the sound concrete at the pile head shall be properly levelled to give a plane surface wh ‘esto Sater for Ping Noss Fev 1 Page 7 of 13, Project Name: Water Front Distt, Pot No. WR-RESISS Mr. Khalifa Ali Khalifa Al Kubaisi Residential Bulging Location: Lusail-Gatar Chet Consutant an Conrado ing Contador ana | See eID wotteuativpan | cco lS o fabricated out of beams and plates to @ size sufficient to accommodate the loading and settlement measuring equipment shall be used. e. Equipment for Applying Load = The equipment proposed to be used for applying the test load consists of a hydraulic ram or jack operated by a power pack. The jacks would be arranged in conjunction with the reaction system to impart an axial load to the test pile. + The complete system shall be capable of safely transferring the maximum load required for the test. f. Measurement of Load + A load measuring device in the form of a calibrated pressure gauge is included in the hydraulic system. Readings of the pressure gauge shall be recorded to interpret the test data the values * Care would be taken to avoid any risk of buckling of the load application and measuring system. Load measuring and application devices shall be short in axial length in order to secure stability and shall ensure that axial loading is maintained. The pressure gauges are calibrated whenever adjustments are made to the device or at intervals appropriate to the type of equipment. Certificates of calibration shall be submitted. 8. Reference Beams and Dial Gauges "An independent reference beam or beams shall be set up to enable measurement of the movement of the pile to be made to the required accuracy. The supports for a beam shall be founded in such a manner and at such a distance from the test pile and reaction system that movements of the ground do not cause movement of the reference beam or beams which will affect the accuracy of the test. The supports of the beam or beams shall be at adequate distance from the Centre of the test pile. = Check observations of any movements of the reference beam or beams shall be made and a check shall be made of the movement of the pile head relative to a remote reference datum at suitable intervals during the progress of the test. * The measurement of pile movement shall be made by four dial gauges rigidly mounted on the reference beam or beams, bearing on prepared flat surfaces fixed to the pile cap_or head and normal to the pile axis. Alternatively, the gauges may also be fixed to/the pile, f< Gest) 43) Tet Satnert Pg Woxs Rev} Page 8 of 13, Location: Lusai-Gatar Project Name: Water Front Distict, Plot No. WR-RESIS3 Mr. Khalifa All Khalfa A Kubalsi Residential Bulking Cie Conant anon ing Contador acura | = C10 mavanves » AWALIFAAL KuBas| | OOO ¢ » and bear on prepared surfaces on the reference beam or beams. The dial gauges shall be placed equidistant from the pile axis and from each other. The dial gauges shall enable readings to be made to an accuracy of at least 0.01 mm and have a stem travel of at least 25mm. 9. Test Procedure a. The testing apparatus and assembly shall be compliant with ASTM D1143/D1143M-07 b. Aset of reaction piles as required at pre designed distance are installed at the selected test pile location. The reaction piles are designed for adequate capacity of at least 1.10 times the load to be imparted. Design of reaction piles shall be submitted for approval prior testing. The reaction piles are provided with adequate reinforcement in the form of pre-fabricated cages, generally rectangular in section. The free ends of the reinforcement are threaded to enable fixing with the secondary frame directly by extension rebar by mechanical couplers or through a collar. d. Once the piles are installed, hydraulic jacks are placed over the prepared pile head of the pile to be tested, fe, The reaction frames are then erected on concrete blocks and connected to the reaction piles by the free end of the reinforcement bars by nuts and mechanical couplers. f. The pile testing arrangement as above is completed and kept ready. g. The test is conducted after the cube test results of the concrete used to cast the piles attains the minimum required strength / parameters as specified h. The maximum load for which selected test piles is to be loaded is 1.5 times the pile capacity. The loading and unloading would be carried out in stages as detailed and tabulated hereunder. i. Following each application of an increment of load, the load shall be maintained at the specified value for not less than the period shown and until the rate of settlement is less than 0.25 mmm / hour and decreasing.
