 What is the Internet doing to our brains?
- The Internet made a big influence to us, it manipulated the things that we
believe in and the things that we do not. It made us do things we do not
usually do. It molded our brains to do something more unusual. On our
generation today, the Internet has become very significant. Every single one
of us has been using the internet every single day. It sometimes helped us on
doing some tasks, but it also drove us to not do things, or it oftentimes do not
help us. In particular, our lives depended too much on the Internet which is
why the Internet manipulated the minds of the people.
 Does the internet make you dumber or smarter?
- There are times where the internet has helped me a lot especially with my
studies. When there are things that I do not understand, I use the internet to
find more information about a certain topic and feed myself with it. It helped
me understand some of the things I find difficult to comprehend. The internet
contributed to flourish my intelligence. However, there are also times where
the internet has made me too dependent wherein if I get too lazy to answer
some activities, I just easily surf the internet then copy and paste information.
When I rely too much to the internet, it makes me dumb to the extent that
even if the questions are easy, I still search it on the Internet. I cannot
generally say that the internet made me smarter, or it made me dumber. I
could conclude that the internet has brought me to instances where I become
smart, and also to instances where I became dumb. Generally, it depends on
how I use it.
B. Read and summarize the article Carr. Is google making us stupid?
- -The essay "Is Google Making Us Stupid?" was written by Nicholas Carr. The
author's main point is an attempt to show that as the Internet becomes our
primary source of information, it begins to affect our ability to read. In the
process, it flattens our brain's learning experience. Carr explains that how
text on the Internet makes browsing fast and profitable is well researched. He
describes how the internet is set up to make other people money, and how
our critical thinking skills and attention spans are compromised in the
process. He concludes his argument by explaining what we lose when we
switch to using the Internet as our primary source of information. He talks
about the new idea of looking at the mind as a computer. This results in a
loss of deep reading and makes us feel sick because of the intellectual
stimulation it gives our brains.
