During a civil war in Syria, there was this teenage girl named Marah who shared the story
of her life. Her father was killed, so she fled to Damascus to lived with her distant relatives in the
capital. She pursue her studies and but she felt the longing for a family. Marah had personal
discoveries about her life, that human beings cannot live without roots that hold them, protect
them, and give them strength and patience. An anonymous emailed to her sister account and
introduce himself as Bassim Hamoud telling her that he saw her apple computer and saw that it
has all the documents she needs and giving her a deal that if she wants her computer back she
needs to meet her by the next day. As Marah and the dealer had an agreement for the laptop. Her
hope was also back and she said to herself that it contains all the important things, including the
most important, her book.
It reflects the time period of being written of Syrian civil war that is still ongoing by the
time the moire is written. It reflects the time period of Syrian war, of how devastating it was. The
culture of Syria, having the pride of conquering, building a fortress for theirselves, taking control
and ruling a area. It all helps to shape the form and content of the work. I think what most
influence her to write this moire is because of she drew on herself experience of young Syrian
girl that was still willing to learn despite of the ongoing war.
The chosen approach which is Historical influence the literary text. It is related to the
Syrian war, and the history of the teenage girl. Historical helps to understand the context, the life,
and time of the author. By this, you can look up in the way of their culture as well. The historical
gives the meaning that history places upon a text. With this we can more understand what is
written in the text. We can learn about what caused it and how they came to be, and either aim to
avoid or replicate these.
