What do you think will be the effect of these changes on the 4Ps of marketing?

Answer:

The following are the individual effects to 4Ps brought by digital technology:

Product

Since the platform used in digital marketing is through online and social medias, the quality of
product still depends on the price or supplier where the buyer decides to purchase. I believe that
the more the product is cheaper, the poorer its quality. Those companies with good image (Nike,
Adidas) still manages to consistently produce and sell their product with great quality. Some are
selling their product but sacrificing its quality just to compete with better prices in the market.

Price

Pricing strategies is a tricky concept for many businesses. I believe that digital marketing directly
affects the pricing of products today. Since the market is very competitive, many sellers try to beat
and match the prices of their competitors. Prices that are too high push users to search elsewhere.
Prices that are too low cut into your profit margins. But it is not always possible for the seller to
lower their prices, they are just making and planning new set of strategies to avoid customer
shifting.

Place

I believe that for all 4Ps in marketing, Place is the one which is truly affected by digital marketing.
Many changes in the platforms used by the companies have been improved and developed like
online selling through websites, social medias, and mobile/computer applications. Traditionally, this
includes newspapers or retail stores. With digital marketing, there are many more channels
available to meet the user’s specific needs. This makes the placement of products challenging
because there are more options for consumer experience.

Promotion

For many businesses, a lot of time and effort is put into the promotion element of the digital
marketing. Businesses need to integrate their marketing approach and include all the basic (4Ps)
elements. Since nowadays the market is very competitive, the promotion through digital marketing
become aggressive. Sellers are trying to match and beat the promotion of their competitors to
create balance and avoid customer shifting. They also developed a new set of marketing strategies
to create good promotion and to gain high revenues from their customer.
