Who am I?

The one object still life

Due Tuesday September 1st

Objectives:
-Use value and line to draw a realistic looking 3D object
-Practice using thumbnail sketches before beginning a final drawing
-Draw what you see!

Instructions:
You must choose one object to bring to school, that can leave in the art room for a few
days, that either:
-Represents your summer or is generally symbolic of who you are
outside of school.
Steps:
1.) Bring an object from home to draw. You have to have a real 3D object- no
pictures.
2.) Experiment with how you will draw your object- different angles and perspectives.
Complete thumbnail sketches of these different compositions and choose your
favorite.
3.) Complete a blind contour drawing of your final composition. This will help you
look at all of the details you should be including in your drawing.
4.) Get your drawing paper for your final drawing. Your drawing should fill up as
much of your paper as possible. This might mean it’s more than lifesize. Focus
on the different values of your object. Give it lots and lots of detail!

Specific Criteria:
Craftsmanship: Your drawing should take up the majority of your paper. That might
mean you are drawing your object larger than life size.

Time and Effort: You are drawing exactly what you see. For example, if I am drawing a
shoe and there is a textured part of the material, I need to include that texture. You are
not drawing an outline of the object.

Focus Art Element/Principle: A full range of values should be represented
