ARKANSAS STATE CLAIMS COMMISSION

Policy Regarding Public Communications

It is the policy of the Arkansas State Claims Commission that commissioners and employees of
the Claims Commission shall not make public comments regarding claims, pending or decided.
Commissioners and employees of the Claims Commission shall not make public comments
regarding the claims process. This specifically includes requests made by the media.
The director of the Claims Commission is permitted to give information regarding the claims
process but should not offer an opinion as to the merits of the claim or any procedure of the Claims
Commission. The director shall specify that all information is being provided off the record. An
exception to this policy shall extend to the director in regard to legislative hearings.
Any employee of the Claims Commission who is asked for information by a person identifying
himself or herself as a reporter or a member of any media outlet shall not provide any information
to that person but shall direct that person to the director.
