Ruler
Motion 1
PROCEDURE
1. Xerox the last page of this activity sheet containing the ticker tape result
2. Cut the paper strip ticker tape result labelled Motion 1
3. Mark every 5 dots in the ticker tape result.
(Every dot corresponds 0.02 s time interval)
4. Label each mark with 1, 2, 3 and so on.
5. Cut the strip on the marks to make several strips.
Make sure that they are arranged from lowest label
to highest label.
6. Paste the strips vertically as shown to the right.
7. Measure the lengths of the individual strips and fill up the
table below.
8. Determine the time for Strips Distance Time Speed
each strip by (cm) (s) (cm / s )
multiplying 0.02 s to 1
The number of dots 2
within the strip. 3
9. Determine the speed 4
by dividing distance 5
and time for each strip. 6

Make sure that they are arranged from lowest label to
highest label.
5. Paste the strips vertically as shown to the right.
6. Measure the lengths of the individual strips and fill up
the Table on the right side.
7. Determine the time Strips Distance Time Speed
for each strip by (cm) (s) (cm / s )
multiplying 0.02 s to 1
the number of dots 2
within the strip. 3
8. Determine the speed 4
by dividing distance 5
and time for each strip. 6
Motion 3
PROCEDURE
1. Cut the paper strip ticker tape result for Motion 3
2. Mark every 5 dots in the ticker tape result.
(Every dot corresponds 0.02 s time interval)
3. Label each mark with 1, 2, 3 and so on.
4. Cut the strip on the marks to make several strips.
Make sure that they are arranged from lowest label to
highest label.
5. Paste the strips vertically as shown to the right.
6. Measure the lengths of the individual strips and fill up
the Table on the right side.
7. Determine the time Strips Distance Time Speed
for each strip by (cm) (s) (cm / s )
multiplying 0.02 s to 1
the number of dots 2
within the strip. 3
8. Determine the speed 4
by dividing distance 5
and time for each strip. 6
