Among all the phrases seen in Unit 9, the one that has the most meaning for me is "better to be

slapped with the truth than kissed with a lie", since I think it encompasses everything. I believe that
it is much better to know the truth, no matter how hard or painful it is, than to live a lie. Whether it
is at work, in friendship or couple relationships, in the family and in all areas, honesty is always
necessary.

Honestly the phrase I like the least is ''it is fitting that a liar should be a man of good memory''
because first of all a person should not worry more about having a good memory but worry about
the depth of the lies he has told and if those lies have hurt someone.

However, the phrase ''but little white lies here and there is human nature. Everybody does that" has
me conflicted. On the one hand I think it is true because we all have lied at some point and I consider
that white lies are those that do not harm anyone and above all are irrelevant such as: saying that
you ate bread when in fact you ate a cookie. They are lies that do not harm anyone and can save you
from a small inconvenience. However, I do not support those people who excuse important lies by
saying that it is a white lie. I think it depends a lot on the person and their values when lying or
telling the truth.

I think all statements are realistic and I believe that any person would choose the truth over a lie in
any situation. As I mentioned earlier it is important that honesty comes first. But, I also consider this
phrase "white lies are ushers to black ones" is not quite realistic because many people can stay just
telling little lies as we all once did and not necessarily then become a bad person who lies and hurts
people.

Finally as for my phrase about telling the truth is "You have to have the courage to tell the truth,
especially when talking about the truth" I always try to apply it in my life and it has helped me a lot.
