1.How do you think a psychiatric nurse can fulfill her role in Psychiatric Nursing as
exemplified in the definition by different authors or resources? What is your role, as a
student nurse, in this instance?

-As a student nurse we can communicate with the client, support persons, and people
in the community who has mental illness. Student nurses or the psychiatric nurses can
identify the client problems and then communicate these verbally or in writing to
other members of the health team. The quality of a nurse’s communication is an
important factor in nursing care especially when you are handling a mentally unstable
person.

2. how can the use of the self & the theories of human behavior promote your
efficiency as a nurse therapist in the Mental Health- Psychiatric Nursing setting?

- Self & the theories of human behavior are used in the mental health field to assess the
patient and family's current situation and to take necessary initiatives. It is observed that the
theories which constitute the theoretical framework of psychiatric nursing are based upon
theories used in the field of general psychiatry.

3. Describemental health & compare its characteristics with those of mental illness or
mental disorder.
-When we talk about mental health, we’re talking about our mental well-being: our emotions,
our thoughts and feelings, our ability to solve problems and overcome difficulties, our social
connections, and our understanding of the world around us. A mental illness is an illness the
affects that way people think, feel, behave, or interact with others. There are many different
mental illnesses, and they have different symptoms that impact peoples’ lives in different
ways.
