ACS2000 4KV Black Box Upload Instructions

Tools Required:
PC (with files shown in Fig 2 installed in a directory called c:\BlackBox)
Zip file application
DDCS Adapter (RUSB-02)
Fiber Optics
USB connector

Introduction:
The AMC34 circuit board is equipped with an additional flash memory PCB. The PCB serves
as a black box which saves the information from a data and fault logger of the drive even if the
auxiliary power has been switched off. When a fault has occurred in the drive, the data and
fault logger record system behavior and measurements that occurred at the time of the failure.
This information can be useful in analyzing the fault and will likely be requested when
troubleshooting on the phone.

The Fault Logger (BlackBox) maintains a list of faults that occur in the drive. The Data Logger
maintains a list of fault characteristics such as current, speed, and voltage that occur at the
time of the fault.

Subdirectory Preparation:
This preparation is needed to install the files and programs onto your PC in order
to perform the uploads.

1. Install the BlackBox files sent or given to you into a new directory on your
laptop PC at c:\Blackbox
2. Double-click onto the “Debug 2.92.exe” file in order to install the program.
Have the program icon shortcut “DriveDebug 2.92” located in c:\BlackBox.
See Fig 1.

Procedure – Obtain INU Node Address and Baud Rate Info:

This procedure provides the steps needed to upload the BlackBox and DataLogger
data by connecting directly to the INU and AFE AMC-34 boards via the DDCS
Adapter RUSB-02 and using the PC DOS commands.

1. Plug the DDCS adapter into your PC laptop USB port

2. Plug the fiber optic cables into the DDCS adapter (black plug into the black
Rx socket, blue plug into the grey Tx socket)
3. Plug the other end of the fiber optic cables into the INU AMC Board, channel
3 (black plug into the black Rx socket, blue plug into the grey Tx socket) See
