Hunter Thomson
Hunter S. Thompson was born in Louisville on July 18, 1937 and is one of the most
revolutionary American journalists in history. When he was three years old, he was
left without a father and a charge of an alcoholic mother. These two elements
considerably marked Thompson's childhood and training and must be taken into
account when analyzing his character and his biography.

Another thing that marked him deeply was living on the border between a
neighborhood of wealthy people and one of lower-middle-class families. Although he
had to live on this last side, he will continue to change the world since he was a child;
and he tried so hard that he ended up rubbing shoulders with people from that other
world outside of childhood but becoming one of the people those people admired.

Hunter's life was unusual and colorful. He went from being a soldier in the army to
becoming one of the first freelance reporters. His time in the army taught him much
of what he knew about weapons and politics: two things that interested him deeply.
He had to leave the Armed Forces because his rebellious behavior was not
compatible with the demands of the service.

Hunter Thompson took his own life with a firearm on February 20, 2005 at his
Woody Creek ranch. As he had requested in his will, his remains were interred and
launched from a cannon on a tower built next to his home with the symbol of Gonzo
journalism embedded: an upward facing fist with two thumbs holding a peyote,
which is the symbol of Gonzo journalism. miscegenation, what Thompson liked so
much, as well as the trips to which said cactus invited him.
