DIPLOMA IN COMPUTER APPLICATION (DCA)
With the growing demand of computers and the role it plays in our life, more and more skilled
professionals are required to take care of the finer points.

With new innovations in this arena there is a growing demand for computer professionals with a
sound understanding of basic computer applications in business covering key programming
languages, data base management, systems analysis, computer software development in specific
applications such as studies, financial management and long range planning.

Diploma in computer applications (DCA) is usually One Year Programme, but could be a year
depending on the course curriculum and institution. It has been designed for aspirants who want to
enhance their knowledge in the computer applications.

Course Objective
 Obtain understanding of the concepts of Information Technology and its applications.
 Become familiar with the use of Information Technology tools.
This course is designed to prepare technicians with specialized skills, knowledge and attitude to
work in Computer Applications, Graphics Designing, Computer programming, finance and
accounting field.

A pass in 10th Examination or Equivalent Examination recognized by Govt of J&K

Module I: Computer Fundamental and PC Application

Objectives of the Course: This syllabus is designed to familiarize students with computer fundamentals
and to make the students familiar with office automation software on Windows platform

Prerequisite: None.

Learning Outcomes: Upon successful completion of the course, the students will learn fundamental
concepts of computer hardware and software and become familiar with a variety of computer
applications including word-processing, spreadsheets and presentations

Instructional Methods & Pedagogy: During theory lectures students will be introduced to the
fundamentals of computers, functionalities of various office automation software, Internet and Email
system. During Practical sessions students will be made familiar with the working of various software

Objectives of the Course: The objective of this course is to provide working knowledge of design and
develop web pages by using markup language.

Learning Outcomes: Upon Successful completion of the course, student will able to design and develop
web pages by using HTML Markup Language.

Instructional Methods & Pedagogy: During theory sessions topics related to common technologies and
techniques used in the designing of web-based applications will be covered with suitable examples.
During Practical sessions, students will be required to design and develop entire web sites using several
web designing tools.

Course Introduction: This course shall introduce students to internet - history, impact, connections,
services, applications and security. Students will also able to gain knowledge of basic HTML tags and
advanced HTML features like frame, forms and layer.

Module II- Financial Accounting Tally Level I

Objectives of the Course: The course Level I train you in accurately planning purchases, managing
working capital and cash flow of your organisation. The participants will be equipped to manage
receivables & payables, credits, fund flow & cash flow, banking, auto, cost & profit centers, multi
currency accounting, interest calculation, flexible classification of chart of accounts, ledgers view, auto
or manual bank reconciliation, among others.
The course covers an introduction to various types of business organizations, accounting on
computers, Tally fundaments which includes learning of Tally features and its functionality. To bring
ease in getting functional with Tally, sample data processing and its report generation will also be
taught to the students as part of this course. The course also covers basics of accountancy which
covers the entire accounting cycle of the business environment. It is focused on understanding and
learning of basic accounting terms, accounting principles, concepts and conventions, double entry
system, modes of accounting and preparation of financial statements.

Learning Outcomes: After successful completion of the course, a candidate is exposed to large
employment opportunities. An accounting package like Tally ERP 9 is highly useful for rendering

Module III- Financial Accounting Tally level II

Objective
The course is designed to give an opportunity to the undergraduate / graduate student to get
acquainted with Tally Accounting Software. This course caters to the vocational needs of the students
and is concurrent with the syllabus covered by the Universities.
It covers the advanced accounting and inventory systems, various reports generated to make
analysis of the financial and inventory position of the organization. It also deals with the various
utilities of the software and its administration. It also covers Introduction to the newly added features
of Tally ERP 9. Understanding of basic concepts and practical application of VAT, CST, TDS and
Service Tax. The course will also cover understanding of the basics of accountancy which includes
learning basic accounting terms, accounting principles and concepts, processing and accounting
transactions on computer and generating reports.

This course has been designed to provide an introduction to Computer Hardware and Networking
troubleshooting & maintenance. The student will be able to troubleshoot problems of PC and replace
the defected parts of the computer. Students will understand the basic networking concepts and they
will be able to establish and manage small networks. At the end of the course students will be able to: •
Assemble and disassemble a PC • Effectively use miscellaneous utilities such as: Compression, CD
writing, Antivirus etc. • Establish and configure a small LAN • Perform simple network administration
