Introduction
SAMA OPC DA Client is an OPC client application which is used to connect and
browse the OPC DA servers and its OPC data items. These OPC data is getting stored
as txt file in configured storage location & used in SAMA Server for DA to AE
configuration.
OPC supports Client/Server architecture. An OPC client can use multiple OPC servers
at the same time and OPC servers can provide its functionality to multiple OPC clients at
the same time.

System Requirements
The software has Software and Hardware system requirements. These requirements
must be met for the software to function properly.
Software Requirements
The following software is required:
• Microsoft Windows XP, or
• Microsoft Windows 7, or
• Microsoft Windows Server 2003
• Microsoft .NET Framework 3.5 or Latest
• Microsoft SQL Server 2008 R2 Express Edition
• Installed in OPC Server Machines.
Note: It is recommended that the most current service packs are installed.
Hardware Requirements
The following hardware is required as minimum:
• Desktop Core 2 Duo or Dual Core Processor
• 4GB RAM

Configuration
Once the SAMA OPC DA Client Installation & basic configuration of application software
have been completed, you are ready to configure the application software.
Starting the SAMA OPC DA Client application

1. Start the SAMA OPC DA Client application by double clicking the SAMA OPC DA
Client shortcut in desktop .

2. Select & right-click the particular OPC DA server in Localhost section. Then click
‘Connect’ button.

3. Once connected the particular OPC server, right-click & select ‘Add Items’ on the
connected OPC server. ‘Add Items’ window will open.

4. Browse the OPC Items from the folders listed & double click on the selected OPC
items. Now the selected OPC item is moved to the selected OPC items section.
Click Add button.

5. The added OPC items are now listed & updated with real time values in right side
pane of the SAMA OPC DA Client application.

Saving the SAMA OPC DA Client application
1. Go to File à Click Save button. ‘Save As’ window will open.

2. In this window, enter the file name & click ‘Save’ button. Now SAMA OPC DA
Client is successfully saved.

Auto Open
1. Go to Options à click ‘Auto Open’.

2. Check ‘Enable Auto Open File’.
3. Click ‘Select File’ button. Open dialog box will open. In this, we can select the
xml file in which SAMA OPC DA Client application has started automatically.

Storage Location
1. Go to Options à Click ‘Storage Location’.

2. Storage Location dialog box will open. In this wizard, click ‘Select
Folder’ & browse the folder in which events file are getting stored.

Licensing
The SAMA Alarm Management software supports software licensing. The licensing
information is described in detail in the installation procedure.

Introduction
SAMA OPC DA Client is an OPC client application which is used to connect and
browse the OPC DA servers and its OPC data items. These OPC data is getting stored
as txt file in configured storage location & used in SAMA Server for DA to AE
configuration.

Configuration
Once the SAMA OPC DA Client Installation & basic configuration of application software

Starting the SAMA OPC DA Client application

1. Start the SAMA OPC DA Client application by double clicking the SAMA OPC DA
Client shortcut in desktop .

2. Select & right-click the particular OPC DA server in Localhost section. Then click
‘Connect’ button.

3. Once connected the particular OPC server, right-click & select ‘Add Items’ on the
connected OPC server. ‘Add Items’ window will open.

4. Browse the OPC Items from the folders listed & double click on the selected OPC
items. Now the selected OPC item is moved to the selected OPC items section.
Click Add button.

Auto Open
