Linear static analysis of

a pipe connector
Step 1: Load the 3D model
1. Import the model pipe_connector.hm.
2. The model is opened and displayed in the graphics area.

Fig 1 : The model display

3. Check the overall tetra mesh.

Step 2: Create a material

1. Create an elastic isotropic linear named “Copper” with the following properties:
2

Step 3: Create a PSOLID property and assign it to all the components of the
model
Step 4: Create Force load and boundary conditions
▪ Creating load:
1. Create > Forces 1
2. The applied Force must be in the z-axis direction and have a magnitude of 100 N as shown below

▪ Creating boundary conditions:

1
1. Create another Load Collector. Name it “CL”, fix the face bel
3

Step 5: Create a new loadcase and request outputs

1. The output requested are: Strain, Stress and displacement

Step 6: Run the model in OptiStruct and display results

Save your model (.hm)
