Avoid anything moving fast that overwhelms your senses.

Examples – TV series, Reels,

TikTok, and YouTube videos (fast-paced). You are already a little low on energy, plus the
thing you’re going through is going to require much more energy. Better conserve as much
of it as you can. - - - As an additional step, you could also cut off senses you don’t need
don’t immediately need (close your eyes, and ears and stop talking). Lay down or sit down
as comfortably as possible.
Try to breathe as slowly as possible and the only thing you need to focus on is your
breath. Don’t try to find out the reasons for your sadness. If you find yourself unable to stop
doing that – tell your brain – Just like there’s the day, there’s the night it’s a natural and
continuous cycle. Similarly, there’s happiness and there’s sadness. After this cycle of
sadness, there’ll be happiness soon. I’m not running away from problem-solving; I’m just
postponing it until I’m capable of doing that.
The next thing that may come up in your brain is – I have work to do, I can’t waste
my time doing this if I don’t work/study now, I’ll face serious consequences. Now, generally,
such a thought is positive in nature and it helps us work hard to achieve what we have to.
But you just need to shut it down too. Tell that thought – I need just 10 minutes to myself;
I’ll entertain you after 10 minutes. Now, you have permission from your brain to help itself.
Now, the feeling of sadness will have taken a backseat. It’s still there, but it will have
a little less effect on you. This doesn’t mean you start with your work/play just yet. You
need to see something natural and big – look at the bright yellow sun, and feel its warmth,
feel the wind, or look at the pitch-black sky, do you see the stars? Or the moon? Or is it just
cloudy? Look at tall towers or maybe mountains at a distance. Vast fields or large
playgrounds or fast-moving cars on the streets. Don’t you feel small? You’re small. Small in
front of huge mountains or distant stars. Yet, you are significant and a part of a HUGE
universe. Look at the sky. That’s what you’re a part of. You’re a part of something huge.
The sadness you’re feeling, now is the time to allow yourself to feel all of it. Embrace
it, it’s a part of you. Just like you feel joy, feel sadness. Observe what it does to your body,
mind, and soul. Shed a tear if you feel like it. Feel the energy hidden in this sadness, the
energy to change yourself, the energy to take decisions you’ve always been afraid of taking.
Don’t take any decisions now, this is no time, place or circumstance to take decisions. Feel
the energy, and remember this feeling. For, you will have to use this energy, to learn from
the past and prepare for a better future. This energy itself is the seed, the seed of ideas. Be
careful of the power of an idea, it can make you or break you. So, be very careful when you
plant this seed in your brain. The energy is massive, so take your time to choose how you
may want to direct it.
Get busy, now is the time to complete all your unfinished business. Clean your room,
organize your bookshelf, and maybe clear the clutter off your electronic devices. Some of
the sadness is short, it just comes and goes in a day. Some of them stay with you, maybe
forever. How would you deal with it? You can’t look up at the sky all day. Getting busy is the
only solution, don’t give much space to that sadness in your brain. Do something, anything!
Give it a little thought when it hits too hard, but otherwise find something to do, something
you love, something you always wanted to do. Maybe mend broken relationships, forgive all
those who hurt you, find a way to make it up to all the people whom you’ve hurt, go make a
stranger smile, and love someone who has always loved you, no matter how much you hurt
them or however absurd or impossible it may feel. Stay with them, they’ll nurture you, and
love them in return. It will fill your heart with joy.
