Read the text and answer the question.
(1)Daniel was a very active boy. He had tried his hand at various sports but had found nothing
which could capture his attention for more than two months. His room consisted of nothing but
a bed, a desk and a pile of racquets. After sometime, Daniel got bored with sports because it
seemed like he could never find a suitable game for himself. He stopped exercising and started
putting on quite a lot of weight.
(3)Alfred was a highly intelligent person. He was also remarkably fit and strong. Daniel was
surprised one day to find out that his best friend was a school athlete. He had always been told
that sports athletics were for those people who could not do well in their studies; he was
definitely not one of them. He used all his time for his studies. Hence it came as surprise to
Daniel that Alfred, who topped the class in practically every subject, was also the captain of
the school athletic team. It just did not seem logical, so Daniel asked his friend about it. Alfred
gave a knowing smile and challenged Daniel to go cycling with him instead of answering the
question. Daniel turned it down at first but his curiosity got the better of him and arranged to
meet the following Saturday at Alfred place.
(4)Alfred brought Daniel to East Coast Park where they hired bicycles from a kiosk. Daniel
did not know how to cycle and he was forced to learn from Alfred. Alfred was a patient and
encouraging teacher. In no time, Daniel was riding on his own. It was then that Daniel
discovered the thrill of being able to control the bicycle. They went every week and Daniel
found that he was becoming fitter. He felt better and also found that he could concentrate on
his work for long periods. He recognized the benefits of exercise and decided to take up cycling
regularly.
