3 DIN Rail mounted Modules

3.1 Overview
DIN rail-mounted modules are 'standalone' modules that have a serial connection or another type of
connection to other modules in the configuration.

Depending on their mounting type, DIN rail-mounted modules can be mounted to different housing
configurations:

• One module type within one housing

• Different module types within one housing

There are five groups of DIN rail-mounted modules:

• Base modules
• Base modules with local I/O
• Input modules
• Output modules
• Input/output modules with up to 4 I/O boards
• Additional modules like Power supply units, modems, etc.

3.2 Power supply units

The following power supply units are available for DIN rail-mounted solutions:
• Power supply unit CP-E 24/2.5

Module comparison Overview

4 Module comparison

4.1 Overview
Rack mounted modules can be combined with DIN rail mounted modules in a configuration. For
limitations and examples, refer to [4] and [5].

This chapter describes the technical differences between the input/output modules.

ADVICE
Always refer to the relevant Hardware Data Sheet for detailed information.

Comparison is independent of the mounting type.

The following abbreviations are used in the tables:

• R: Rack mounting
• D: DIN Rail mounting
