Brief description of the communities threatened by coastal erosion and displacement Ako Amadi According to the World Bank, Africa is the fastest Urbanizing continent, but arguably the least prepared for the transition. Lagos is characterized by a burgeoning population of high poverty percentage, many living in limited space on a coastline threatened by sea level rise ‘and unpredictable weather events. This scenario of physical and social geography is exemplified by squatter settlements, traffic congestion, roadside markets, overstretched and inadequate infiastructure.
