PRESSURE RELIEF VALVE WITH RAIN GUARD. (On page 2 details of Switch Box & Flag Box are shown by removing Rain Guard. ) Glossary of terms PRV Pressure Relief Valve, Tank Tank in which Transformer winding & oil etc. are housed, Figures: Figures in Brackets in wtite-up refer to pan list of Org. C8-601.A5. Application . This PRV 1s designed to be used on Power Transformers and similar applications. Whon pressure int tank rises avove predetermined safe limi, this valve operates end performs fillewing fun Allows the pressute to drop by instantaneously opening a port of ‘about 159 mm dia Gives visual indication of valve operation by taising a tag. Operates a micro switch This switen has 1NO and 1 NC contacts (Fou! terminals). Hence switch can be el circuit Specitications See Page 4 Tests Routine Tests are cairied out on each PRY. O8-601-R'5) {fils PRV has an iniogral ange with six holes for mounting. ‘The valve can be mounted vertically ‘Srhorizantally 01 tne lank. The PRV has got 8 ott of about 160 mm dia. This port Is sealed by & etalnless steel diaphragm (4). This diaphragm ests on an ‘O' ring and is kopt pressed by Iwo heaw duty springs (6), thereby Keeping the port ‘closed, ‘The other side of diaphragm is exposed totank pressure, Whenever pressure in the tank tises due fo any reason, the same pressure actt fon the diaphvagm from Inside. When pressure rises above predetermined safe limit, th ‘inphragm gots ited from ts seat, ‘This liting is instantaneous and allows vapours, gases or tquld to come oxt of tank depending upon tho postion of valve on tank. The daphragm regains is poation as soon as pressure in the tank diops below set limit. The lift of diaphragm is utilized to porate flag (12) and micro switch (13) with the help of rod (8). The flag and switch remain ‘sperated until thoy are reset manually. Ghecke For Valve 5 s PAV is ganer in a comrugat Doe, The mathod of packing may Vary. The PRY should be checked as follows, bofere it ia Installed. Rlemove the valve trom packing and keep it on a able, Remove all packings, stings fixed to ‘valve, Check tial no pats are dameged in vanst. it any damage is found, refer to faults ar remedies column In this leaflet, Product label indicates the Model and bursting pressure, Ensure that proper valve Is teken, Remove tain guard. Then remove the cover of ‘Switch bax. Connect suitable testing device to + terminals of switch. Cheek the position of contact as per ‘Balote valve operation’ diagram of FIG 4 - Wiring and Switch Operation. For manual checking, it switch operating rod (9) by hand. Tho jit will result in operation of ewitch & indicaling flag as follows, ‘Switch - Contac! will change over to ‘After valve ‘operation’, This will be confiemed by the testing device connected to terminals, = The indicating flag (12) will be lied as Fiag Switch & Indicating lag should be reset manuelly ater checking Swiich - Press Knob (14) which is positioned at lower sida of saiten box. After pressing the knob contacts will change over to ‘etore Valve Operation’ positon, + Turn the flag down as indicated by an iro on flag box. Flag will aguice aiiginal positon before iting ol rod (0) Flag Atter checking of switch operation & flag operation fit cover of sate box, Then fix the rain guard as per i's original position 5. Each PRV is tested with compressed air to check the bursting pressure. However, customer is advised to check tne valve by stimulating pressure ‘onditions before insiallation on transiormer. We Gan provide schemalic drawing for fabrication of test pad. Mf PRY is found operating at pressure out of tolerance limi, i willnave (0 be returned (0 us for fesetiing. Changing of buisting pressure can not bbe dene outside our factory. ‘While conducting such Tests at your end care should be taken thal small particles do not have ‘a passage through the port opening. Such particlesare likely to get Wrapped between Glaphragm and gasket which will affect functioning of PRY. Tt shuld also be noted that inaccurate pressure ‘gauge may lead to wrong conclusions. Hence Accurate pressure gauge of 0 10 2.5 Kg/em’ may be used with least count 0.05 Kglem® or better 6. Check For Installation : The following checks should be observed before instalation of PRV on Transtorme 81. Check that the orientation of pad is properly done, 62. Check that the propor bots, M 12 X 90 with thick washers aio taken for installation, Bols other than this size shoud not be used, 63 We supplied a gasket (2) with PRV. Any ‘other gaskot than supplied with the valve can be used with dus precaution, Provide cable gland of 1" BS Conduct with ‘Suitable bush for cable to be used, After all above checks, the PRV is ready for installation 64 7. Installation : Each valve should be cleaned trom inside (tank side] with compressed di: jot. All particles should be removed from tank side, While cleaning, care should be taken that the jet does not aitack the ‘swilch and the flag mechanism, The PRV should be installed considering the following aspects. 7.1. The indicating fag is easily seen from distance. “The valve is accessitle for manual resetting and for touine manual checking While installing remove dit and clean the mounting surface. 7.2. The rubber gasket supplied with the valve should be properly cleanod & be located in the re: carefully. Tighten M12 bos evenly with care 7.8 Remove Rain Gaurd, Remove cover of Switch Box (6).
