The chart shows the number of shops that closed and the number of new shops opening in a country

from 2011 to 2018

The information on how many businesses closed and opened between 2011 and 2018 is shown in the line
graph.
Overall, the graph highlights how both values saw a declining tendency over the time period. In addition,
over the past 8 years, the number of stores that closed has changed the most.
There were 6.500 establishments that closed and 8.500 that opened in 2011, respectively. The number of
store openings decreased significantly the following year to only 4.000 before significantly increasing the
following year to almost 6,000. The number of store closings followed a similar pattern, recording a slight
dip of more than 500 and peaking at almost 7,000 in 2013 before falling to almost the same level as store
openings in 2014.
According to the line graph, the amount of stores that closed decreased significantly over the course of
three years, from almost 6.500 to little under 6000 in 2015. Additionally, the number of openings
decreased steadily by about 2.000 before being stable the following year and falling to 3.000 in 2018.
