ADWEK TIMOTHY OCEPA S20B44/134

Abram renamed Abraham (a father to the nations) married to the Sarai renamed Sarah (a mother
to the nations) blessed with a late (beyond menopause, at the age of ninety) had dutiful firm and
unwavering loyalty to God. He depicted a level of fear and love absolutely relatable to “ideal.” I
for one attach two main character traits of Abraham to why he is the father of nations, those that
believe as seen in the subsequent paragraphs.
Abraham in the related passages of Genesis depicted high level of obedience and fear of the
Lord. The Lord asked Abraham to leave all of his father’s including his people and his country to
head to a land “one that he would be shown,” according to the scriptures he did not complain
about anything, I would say he simply packed all he had gathered and owned and set right ahead
to the direction of God. After the Lord appeared to Abraham, he went ahead and set up an altar
in the place the Lord said “I will give this land to your offspring.” This is not only utmost
obedience but also fear of the Lord per se. Also, every single time God asked Abraham to offer
sacrifice he didn’t decline more so not any reason was a barrier to his obedience even when it
came to sacrificing his only son Isaac (a blessing to him of such magnitude, a son from
menopause, the only heir) he did as he asked to. With no complains, no retaliations, simply
utmost obedience. As well the sacrifice of the birds and animals with their specific instructions,
he did as he asked promptly.
Abraham was single-mindedly committed to believing in God, he had a constant faith on God.
Abraham again through his work with God never let his fear, doubt, or human nature supersede
his committed faith on God. From the first assignment per se, God commanded him to pull out of
his own homeland in the name of making a great nation out of him doubled with immense
blessings “bless everyone that blesses him (Abraham), curse all that curses him, everyone in the
world to be blessed through him,” be believed it and headed. God told him he will have his own
child at Sarah’s scientifically impossible child bearing age. He simply said yes father to that even
though he had his doubts. God went ahead asked him to offer his very special miracle child to
Him as a burnt offering of which he didn’t defy to it, more interestingly when his son asked him
about the lamb for the burnt offering, he remarkably said “God will surely provide.”
In conclusion, God brought all sorts of tests to his servant Moses and he successfully went
through all of them, according to me this is why God confirmed his of Abraham being the father
of the nations as seen after Abraham had carried to sacrifice his son, God swore by Himself to
Abraham’s descendants as multiple as the sky’s stars and the seashore’s sand.
