1 Hardware requirements:

The following minimum requirements must be observed if the system is to operate smoothly
and trouble- free:

 Only Microsoft Windows:


Windows VISTA Business / Windows 7 Professional / Windows 8 / Windows 10
(JURA tested versions, other versions are subject to change)
 Please note, the following OS are NOT supported anymore by Microsoft:
Windows 98 since 12.07.2006.
Windows 2000 since 13.07.2010.
Windows XP since 08.04.2014.
VISTA since 14.04.2017.
From these dates, JURA does not give any guaranty anymore !
 Windows CE/Embedded/Mobile versions are NOT supported
 CD/DVD drive
 USB ports
 Printer
 Internet access
1.1 COM ports:
 Older versions of the scanner (older than August 2005) and TERMINAL 3000 (older than April 2008)
will be controlled via a serial COM port
 Your computer has to be equipped with a COM port or you may use e.g. an USB/COM converter

2 Animation System:

 From January 2013 the TERMINAL 4000 is supported via USB


 From February 2009, only USB stick scanner (without IrDA) will be delivered
 From March 2017, the TERMINAL 3000 support is stopped
 From August 2005, combi-scanners had been equipped with COM- and USB-ports.
From March 2017, no deliveries anymore.

2.1 Scanner, USB version (without infrared):


 This scanner supports no old infrared appliances anymore (IMPRESSA 300, 500)

2.4 TERMINAL 4000:


 For the diagnosis with the GIGA coffee machines, the TERMINAL 4000 has to be attached
 IMPRESSA X7/X9 are supported (since April 2013)
 TERMINAL printer + RS232 cable have to be taken from the SERVICE CASE TERMINAL 3000.
Since delivering in June 2013, the RS2323 cable is part of the TERMINAL 4000 kit.
 The animation system is not part of the TERMINAL 4000.
The software is only delivered with the Animation system Kit.

2.4.1 The TERMINAL 4000 contains the following parts:


 TERMINAL 4000 incl. pen
 AC/DC adapter 100-240 V~/5 VDC
 USB cable
 Micro SDCard with adapter (TERMINAL ID Nr.)
 RS 232 cable

3 Installation animation system:

Please note that you need administrator rights to install any software and the user has to have
write rights !

3.1 New version (32/64 Bit):

3.1.1 Procedure with Animation Software setup:

3.3 Scanner USB driver installation:


 When installing an older software (CD before 2005/10) the hardware wizard may start up
 If you use the USB-port of the SCANNER, then this will launch the
„Windows Found New Hardware Wizard“
 Follow up the prompts and install the USB-driver which is located on your hard disk under
(C:\JURA_IMP\SERVICE\TREIBER)
 You can also download the driver from:
http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm (Windows)

3.4 TERMINAL 4000 USB driver installation:


 If you use the USB-port of the TERMINAL 4000, then this will launch the
„Windows Found New Hardware Wizard“

 If not, check device manager for and install it manually


 Follow up the prompts and install the USB-driver which is located on your hard disk under
(C:\Program Files (x86)\Jura\Service\Driver\)
 In the “Device manager”, there should be now a new entry under Ports (COM & LPT)
(Freescale CDC Device or Virtual Com Port)

3.4.1 Windows 8/10 Disable driver signature enforcement:

3.5 Customer Software:


 Program and manage functions via an external software
 This software is only supported at Professional coffee machines

 Since July 2012 it is not necessary anymore to install the CustomerCard Software, as it is part of the
animation system.

4 The screen:

The screen shown below will appear once the software is running:

The start window selects the attached appliance and hands over the command to the appropriate appliance
software (Entry/Exit/Individual test).

The animation software controls the coffee machine.


Therefore, please ignore the text or symbols on the display.
Make only that, what the software asks you to do.

Unless the test procedure is not proceeding, then follow up the signs/messages given by the
coffee machine.

4.1 Settings:
Certain setting adjustments must be carried out once the program has been run for the first time, in order to
ensure that the software works correctly.
4.1.1 Language:
The language can be selected via two menus:

4.1.2 Diagnosis COM port:


The diagnosis port (also virtual USB/COM port) provides a connection for the JURA scanner and
TERMINAL 4000.

 The JURA scanner/TERMINAL 4000 can be connected using COM ports 1 to ...
(depending on the number of installed COM ports)
 Ensure also, however, that the interface is correctly configured to the appropriate port

4.2 NEWS documents:


These documents will not be presented in that way anymore (since 1.March 2010).
They have been replaced via the function of the JURA Service Platform (see chapter 10).

The Documents menu gives you access to NEWS documents. Activation of this menu opens a window
containing several PDF files in individual language folders.
These files are updated each time you download. They contain important information concerning
amendments and modifications to our range of equipment.

4.3 Individual test:


Click on the Individual test icon to open a window listing the possible test functions.
The number of tests that can be carried out depends on the type of coffee machine, which have been
previously selected via Auto Selection or manually with the pull-down menu.

1. Switch-on the coffee machine and wait until the initialisation of the brewing unit has
ended
2. Now connect the JURA scanner to the coffee machine

 When one or more tests have been selected by clicking on the appropriate item in the list, activate
Start to begin the test procedure
 The program switches over to the Diagnosis screen while testing is in progress

4.3.1 Set up a new logic board:


 See chapter 6.2
4.3.2 Statistics:
 Read out the statistics directly from the coffee machine
4.3.3 Conversion of heating cartridge to thermoblock:
 The IMPRESSA E-line with build-in heating cartridges can be replaced with thermoblocks
 Therefore, other parameters have to be programmed into the logic board
 Please read the detailed instructions from the NEWS (Umbauanleitung_E.pdf)
on the JURA Service Platform

4.3.4 Individual test GIGA W3:


4.3.4.1 Service position (grinder cleaning):
 Grinder moves to the service position to be able to have it cleaned
 When re-inserting, an initialization has to be made as a next step
4.3.4.2 Initialization (grinder exchange):
 Grinder initializes automatically (necessary when exchanging or cleaning grinders)

5 Entry diagnosis:

An entry diagnosis must first be carried out whenever a coffee machine is put into service.
The entry-diagnosis routine is subject to a pre-defined set of procedures (see Service concept).

1. Switch-on the coffee machine and wait until the initialisation of the brewing unit has
ended
2. Now connect the JURA scanner to the coffee machine

This procedure can be summarised as follows:


1. Read out data (production, statistical, service and customer data).
These data are stored onto your computer.
2. Save the latest factory settings into your coffee machine
3. Static diagnosis (statements based on detected data)

 Payment system and filter will be disabled

6 Exit diagnosis:

Since June 2013, all new models will be serviced with a short Entry and Exit diagnosis (see chapter 11)

The exit-diagnosis routine is subject to a pre-defined set of procedures (see Service concept).

This procedure can be summarised as follows:


1. Read out machine data
2. Save the latest factory settings into your coffee machine
3. Dynamic diagnosis procedure similar to the final production check
4. Activate the service diagnosis function using this input dialog
5. Customer data from the entry diagnosis will be programmed back into the coffee machine
(production-, statistics-, service- and customer settings)

 To access the service diagnosis dialog is only possible, if no error occurred during the exit diagnosis
 After the exit diagnosis is the first use bit set (if available).
The customer will confirm the options during switch-on procedure.
 Payment system and filter will not be enabled, this has to be done manually
 External filter settings (GIGA Xc/IMPRESSA XJ with IFWK /IMPRESSA X9) stay stored as they were
on the entry. The appliance just fills the system during switch-on.

6.1 Start exit diagnosis:


1. Switch-on the coffee machine and wait until the initialisation of the brewing unit has
ended
2. Now connect the JURA scanner to the coffee machine

 Activate Exit diagnosis and follow the instructions as they appear on-screen
 An exit diagnosis cannot get started without having made an entry diagnose before.
The data of the entry diagnosis are stored for 30 days onto the computer.
 Exception:
When using a new logic board, there has to be made an exit diagnosis first (or set-up a new logic
board see chapter 6.2 ).
Select the proper coffee machine by using the pull-down menu.

6.2 Set up a new logic board:


After changing a logic board, it is very important to start first the “Set up a new logic board”
with the animation system, before testing or switching on the coffee machine.

The new logic board has no article specific parameters memorized, as it does not know in what
kind of appliance it will be used (e.g. 230 V~/110 V~ or 50 Hz/60 Hz).

 Manually select the appliance from the pull-down menu


 Click onto the Set up a new logic board under Individual test and click onto Start
 Choose the proper Article number during the process

 Now you can finish the service and control of the coffee machine
 At the end you have to finish the service by starting the Exit diagnosis

 You replace a logic print whose appliance code appears on the entry diagnosis or the 128 EAN bar
code is onto the label
 After you change the logic print, you must select manually the correct device at the beginning of the
exit diagnostic
 While the exit diagnosis is running, you will be prompted to enter the device code or the complete
128 EAN code
 Enter the code according to the instructions and continue running the exit diagnosis in the usual
manner
 If you choose the first appliance number in the pull-down menu, a pop-up warning message appears
(confirm with YES)
 At the end of the diagnosis the factory settings (no customer settings), the production date,
machine number and device code are written back

12.1 Installation:
If the following error texts are shown, proceed as follows:

12.1.1 Jura Animation


Error by reason of Animationnumber.

Solution:
A previous version has not been installed properly and has therefore to be uninstalled.
 Uninstall the Animation System software with the uninstall routine
 Delete the installation folder (e.g. JURA_IMP or PROGRAM FILES\JURA\SERVICE) completely with
the Explorer
 Search on the hard disk for the files topset.txt and konfig.txt, and if found, delete them
completely
 Reinstall the Animation System according to chapter 3
12.2 Error messages during internet download:
12.2.1 Data transmission:
 The data transmission is done via the protocol HTTP
 Please verify that, if using a firewall, this protocol is not blocked
 Anti-Virus programs shall not block the JURA programs
12.2.2 500 Internal Server Error:

 When the following error message pops up, the JURA server has a connecting problem
(if using a proxy/gateway the second message appears).

12.2.3 Error in data transfer, with message socket error #10054. connection reset by peer:

 Remove or add the http:// into the address, as described in chapter 9.1.1

12.2.4 Other error messages:


 All other error messages are IT specific and may depend on time out problems between your
location and the various hubs to the JURA server.
Please contact your IT responsible. These errors cannot get solved by JURA.
 It is sometimes useful to repeat the procedure and this also 24 hours later, as there are providers
which release connections only after this time period
12.2.4.1 Error message of a specific file:
Depending on the use of your virus scanner, certain files (x.exe, x.dll) might get overwritten with 0 byte.
These files will be mentioned in the display error message.

 Search with the explorer in the program path for this file and delete it manually
 Disable temporary your virus scanner
 Start a download
 Enable your virus scanner again

12.2.4.2 Read also technical NEWS Exclusion rules of Antivirus software:


In these cases it is recommended to train your Antivirus software to treat the installation path of the
JURA Animation Software, or single files, as being “no danger”.
Search this option within your Antivirus software and define the exclusions as described above.
You may have to delete the “already treated files” and start an update of the Animation Software again.

12.3 Use of the animation software:


 An exit diagnosis cannot get started without having made an entry diagnose before or the data of
the entry diagnosis are older than 30 days.
Exception: assembled a new logic board.
 After a single control-panel or logic board exchange (without having made an entry diagnosis) one
has to start firstly an exit diagnosis.
This procedure will check and synchronise the software versions in the display and logic board.
After that it is clear, that no entry diagnosis had been made and the software asks you to do this
(Appliance has not been acquired ! Start entry diagnosis please.).
Start now the entry diagnosis and afterwards start the exit diagnosis to complete the repair.
 In the “International” appliances are other languages programmed.
If there is a wrong part number used as a logic board exchange, it is not possible to complete an
exit diagnosis.
It is decisive to use the proper logic board (check on the Web Business).
