Ensemble Shoshhin (ショシン) - „Space of Welcome“

The name „Ensemble Shoshin“ – „Beginners Mind“ – refers in Zen to an attitude of

an open mind and a freedom of preconceived ideas and concepts.
And this is what happened: the members of this trio, Muneer B. Fennell, Ralf Altrieth
and Robert Montheureux at last met in pure joy to record this music, unburdened by
too complicated conceptual elaborations but rich in musical experience – exactly an
ensemble in the mode of Shoshin.

We have a long standing history of friendship and musical collaboration. Muneer and
Ralf recorded the meanwhile legendary „Liberated Cello Duo“ together. Muneer and
Robert recorded „Getting Gone“. We have played in diverse formations where pairs
of us were present, but this is for the first time that we had a chance to meet and
play music together - and what a joyful meeting that was!
