Now write two simple sentences of your own. If you prefer, you can just
change the details in the example.
Here are some techniques you can use to change the word order (and thus add
variety to your writing!).
Use a connective (but, and …) to turn the sentences into one compound
sentence:
The girl was walking down the street and she was singing.
Can you do the same to your sentences?
Highlight the verbs (doing words) in the sentences, then reorder them. You may
have to change the tense:
Add adverbs (words which describe or add to a verb) to your sentences and then
try starting with one:
Using a variety of these techniques will help make your writing more engaging,
and your readers will stay awake!
