The Birth of Film, Architecture, and Music in the Philippines

Philippines is composed of more than 7,000 islands and a home for thousands
of “Kayumanggi People”.Therefore,since the birth of time,Filipinos had been carrying a
rich heritage that sooner reach its advent today such with what we call Film,Architecture
and Music.

Today, malls had been showing a lot of movies that ctahces our attention and
kills away our boredom.However,films were first shown in the Philippine Islands in 1897
during the revolt against Spain. When two swiss businessmen sponsored the opening in
the cinematograpfo in Manila.From the word “cine” became slang for movies.At the turn
of the century,cinema struggled to compete with the dominant entertainment form ,the
sarsuela,a Spanish dramatic genre ,spoken and sung scenes.Moreover,the first locally
produced film is thought to be La Vida de Rizal, a story about Jose Rizal.Then,many
rivals made another versions of the mentioned story.The Father of Philippine
Cinema,Jose Nepumuceno released the first Filipino produced film,Dalagang Bukid
(Country Maiden) starring Atang de la Rama (1905-1991).Films wayback then adapt the
style form Hollywood movies however,the use of tagalong as it features Filipino scenes
that gained a lot of audience and inspired a lot of actions and actress.Due to this,as a
result of the trade relations with different races such as
Arabs,Chinese,Indians,Japanese,Malaya,Hindus,and Indo Chinese.Then,it continues to
evolve and Pinoy Pop on the Filipino pop music took place.It covers different forms like
Jazz,dance hits,folksong revival,rock and roll,rap and many more.It was followed by
“alternative music” which was influenced by Folk Balladeers.Up to this day,it is still
evolving and upgrading.

Film ,Music and Architecture are no wonders part of our daily lives.Imagine if
these form of arts did not sprouted.Our lives would be boring as a rock .Thses are
indeed the spices of our lives.
