Ifyou suspect that bleach or any other chemical compound has been previously applied, you should completely rinse the coil and drain pan with clean water prior to applying EnviroCon, or do not apply EnviroCon. It is prudent 10 ask if the system has previously been treated, when and with what. EnviroCon can be reactive with other chemical compounds such as hypochlorites (bleach) and phenol- based products. These chemical products have been knowa to have been used for sanitizing HVAC systems although they may not have EPA approval for this application. This is clearly not the case since the EPA requires that all products applied to HVAC systems be specifically registered for this application. Some chersicals may be applied to the coils, but NOT approved for use in ducts. Should you have any questions 2s to whether a product is registered for use in HVAC systems, you can obtain a copy of the Master Label registered with the EPA through the Freedom of Information Act. Also, you can call the IAQ Hotline for more information at (800) 438-2318. CHEMICAL SENSITIVITY ‘A few isolated incidences have recently been brought to our attention in which the HVAC systems of highly chemically sensitive people were cleaned and sanitized. ‘The reported incidences involve various health related problems following the cleaning and sanitizing operation, The sanitizers employed included, but were not necessarily limited to Bio-Cide’s EnviroCon. While we consider EnviroCon to be the most efftetive and least toxic of all chemicals used for HVAC system sanitation, we also feel thet HVAC contractors should be alerted to the fact that highly chemically sensitive individuals may be prone to certain health related symptoms, whether real or perceived, with the use of any chemical sanitizer. We recommend that EnviroCon not be used where chemically sensitive individuals are involved. Bio-Cide Intersational, Inc, 2650 Venture Drive _Normar, OK 73069 P.O.
