INTER –FAITH PRAYER MEET

Interfaith, in its most basic sense, is when people or groups

from different religious/ spiritual worldviews and traditions

come together. ‘’ Inter-religious’’ is also used, since ‘Interfaith’

can cannotates exclusively Abrahamic traditions. Interfaith

cooperation is the conscious bringing together of people from

diverse religious, spiritual, and ethical beliefs.

INTERFAITH DIALOGUE refers to cooperative, constructive and

positive interaction between people of different religious

traditions (faith) and spiritual or humanistic beliefs, at both the

individual and institutionallevels. It is distinct from syncretism


or alternative religion, in that dialogue often involves

promoting understanding between different religion or belief to

increase acceptance of others, rather than to synthesize

‘’DANCE HAS NO HOMELAND’’

OBJECTIVE
An inter faith prayer meet was organized to bring together the

people of all religious and socio-economic backgrounds aiming

to help and motivate each other in different ways to boost the

morale of commoners. It was orgainised in Our lady of Fatima

convent Sec. School, Gurugram as a show of India’s unified

strength and brotherhood. The prayer meet was attended by

leaders of different religious organisations like priets,

commoners, students and many more. These priests together

joined hands and prayed to the almighty for healing and

protection of all citizens. Religious leaders and representatives

gave out loud the message of communal harmony and

preached about oneness and unity. It is events like these that

show india stands and unshakable even in difficult times.

The aim of the inter- religious meet was to spread awareness

among students and parents that all religions are epitome of

peace and harmony. They are the sources of unity and

universal brotherhood.

SPEECHES BY RENOWNED GUEST FROM ALL DIFFERENT

RELIGIOUS

The duties were handled very perfectly and divided in two

parts.

ON STAGE :Lightening of lamp, welcoming the chief guest,

anchoring, stage and backdrop decoration and many more

On stage duties were totally handed by batch holders of the

school, who welcomed the guests and ascorted them to their

seats.

In this event I have conducted the beautiful CLASSICAL

PRAYER DANCE based on interfaith which was

depictingnot only one faith or religion but it was a

combination of all religions.


Every one has got some or the other message on

faith through the steps performed by students. So,

watching a dance performance was a kind of

learning about interfaith. The lyrics of the song

was meaningful and effective. The students

performance was very amazing.

Costume : costume was proper south Indian bharatnatyam

dress for main dancers and sub dancers worn kathak dress.

Make -up: Make -up was very heavy and attractively.

Each of the guest were asked to reflect on the teaching

from their holy books and enlightened then students and


audiences with their experiences and knowledge to

promote unity, peace and harmony amongst the listeners.

Each of the valuable spokesperson were given 5 – 7

minutes to cite some examples from the life scholars and

God’s life so that children can learn and develop interest.

TARGET AUDIENCE

The children are the future of our nation. They need to be

sensible, and human to understand others. With past

events/history they did learn about the distruction to

humanrace due to wars and flights. So, they need to be

sensitized to be the ambassadors of peace in the society.

Young people exposed to image of violence may have

difficulty channelling their feelings appropriately. They

can easily pick up negative or demeaning cues given by

adults around them. Classmates and peers may become


targets of hostility and blame for something with which

they had nothing to do. So, to emphasize positive, familier

images of diverse groups, identify people of diverse

ethnicities, religions and / lifestyle that children know and

who friends, School personnel, health care professionals,

members of their faith community, or local merchants.

Model tolerance and compassion. Children take their

emotional cues from the significant adults in their lives.

Avoid making negative statements about any racial, ethnic,

or religious group.. Reach out to your neighbours and

colleagues who might feel at risk because of their

ethnicity, religion or other traits.


PLANNING OF THE PUBLICITY

Students and parents of Our lady of Fatima convents school,

were informed on the prior parents teachers meet via a

pamphlet and message from the school message service.

Repeated message were sent in and around the campus via

pamphlet pasting on the outside walls of the campus.

All the chief guests were sent an email about the event and

with an invitation letter and a bouquet. They were briefed

about the event and its importance in today’s scenario. They

appreciated and enthusiastically conformed their presence in

the good for cause event.


REHEARSEL

Around 10 days were practiced in the rehearsal room

All the stdents participated enthusisatically. Music was

rhythamatically . And for good co-ordination step has re

changed more times. The lot of importants has given Face

expression ,synchoronisation and mudras.

EVENT DETAILS OF THE PROGRAMME

Under the leadership of the Principal Sr. Santina, the aim of the

inter-religious meet was to spread awareness among students

and parents that all religions are epitome of peace and

harmony. They are the sources of unity and universal

brotherhood.
Interfaith dialogue can unlock the power of religious tradition

and provide the inspiration, guidance, and valida-tion necessary

for populations to move toward non-violent means of conflict

worldwide.

The main purpose for organizing an inter- religious prayer

service was to make children realise the importance of the

greatest religioin HUMANITY .It started with the lighting of the

lamp which indicates a light of hope in this dark and unreal

world. Then some information was given on Humanity and

prayer.

Dr. Pushpa Antil representing Hinduism spoke about the urgent

need o peace in the society which is the only way out to be

more human.
Dr.Arminder singh Narang spoke on Sikhism and said that his

religion is all for inclusiveness of all people to work towards

global peace

Maulana mufti Saleem said that islam propagates huminity as

the ultimate path to spread peace and tranquality in the

society.

Dr. M.D Thomas, a Christian priest said that the world adopts

Gandhian philosophy of truth and non-violence then this world

could be the best place to live for all human beings.

Dr. Aravind Anand spoke on Budhism and said that the

teaching of Lord Buddha are very much relevant in today’s

society as they help every human being to understand true


meaning of life to help one another to live in peace and

harmony.

Dr. Alok jain from Jainism highlighted the importance of every

living bring on earth. He said unless and until there is respect

for life among human beings it is not possible to attain world

peace.

RESULT/OUTCOME

The following benefits of interfaith prayer meet were

recorded based on the feedback from the audience.

1. The promotion of respect and diversity,

2. Development of a more cohesive community

3. Restoration of trust

4. Reduction of the feeling of threat

CONCLUSION

‘’The ultimate religion a man needs is

Humanity’’

The program successfully made children and audience

realise the fact that God is one and he teachers the


same through his different appearances on this

beautiful Earth. They understood that.

Being human is more important than being a human.

It was a great success and was appreciated by all the

parents and other dignitaries.
