Activity 1.

Give 2 applications/examples of the following processes of charging

1.       Charging by Friction

a. If you rub plastic with fur, electrons are rubbed onto the plastic making it
negative

b. If you rub glass or plastic with silk, electrons are rubbed off the glass
making it positive

2.       Charging by Conduction

a. The wires in your home conduct electricity and allow lights to come on
when you flip the switch.

B. When you turn on your computer or any other electric or battery-operated


devices or appliances, electrical conduction is what makes them function.

3.       Charging by Induction

a.    When a ruler is rubbed several times on the hair, it gets charged. When it
is brought close to small pieces of paper, it attracts the bits by charging
due to induction

B  the buildup of dust on the screen of a television or computer


monitor.When a computer monitor or television screen is turned on it
begins to build up a charge.
