In Costa Rica, the use of the phrase "Pura vida" is very widespread.

It can be given as a
question or as an acknowledgment of your presence or used as a greeting or farewell.
Tour guides often say, "A recommended response to" How are you? " it would be 'Pura
Vida' ”. And using it is the first advice from the image consultants of artists and other
public figures who will visit the country to create empathy with the Costa Rican public.
This phrase is closely linked to the spontaneous and enormous biodiversity of the country,
as expressed in the other phrase: "if you stand still, plants can grow in your head." And it
is so deeply rooted that officially supported first-rate international programs are often
referred to as the “TEDx Pura Vida” technology and design event. Or the Central American
Sports Games: San José, 2013, the opening show was called “Pura vida” as a portrait of
Costa Rica, its nature, people and the future, explained Delia Piccirilli, artistic director of
high-tech and quality production international. The phrase is used in advertising by
national companies that boast of their national origin, such as beer or mattresses that
want to block foreign brands in a globalizing environment, or by transnational brands that
try to break into Costa Rica as a new market .
