If the Bluetooth connection to a FR Slave is lost for more than 600 seconds, Freerider
III stops the current job.
The NCM uses an USB connection to communicate with the GPS mouse.
The FR Master uses a Wi-Fi connection to transfer measurement files from the FR
Slaves and the scanner to the FR Master. This connection is only active for the dura-
tion of the file transfer or if you enable it in the "Device Manager".
You can use the following optional components with Freerider III:
● FR3-OPS: Office Power Supply
● FR3-VPS: Vehicle Power Supply
● FR3-OMBC: Office Multiple Bay Charger for 4 batteries that can also re-calibrate
the batteries
● RF paddle antennas
● USB GPS receiver
● PCTEL Seegull IBflex scanner
For a description on how to connect Freerider III to an IBflex scanner, see Chap-
ter 2.3.7.5, "Connecting to an IBflex Scanner", on page 52.
● Rohde & Schwarz TSMA scanner unit
● BT GPS receiver: You can use can use an optional Bluetooth GPS receiver with
an integrated battery for autarkic operation. You can store the Bluetooth GPS
receiver in an inside pocket at the top of the backpack.
For a description on how to connect Freerider III to an IBflex scanner, see Chap-
ter 2.3.7.4, "Connecting an External GPS Receiver", on page 50.
● FR3-Core2: RF MIMO antenna
The FR Master can support up to 7 Bluetooth connections. That is, you can only use a
BT GPS Receiver in a Freerider III system that contains a maximum of 5 smartphones
and 1 scanner or 6 smartphones and no scanner.
● Always obtain approval from R&S SwissQual before you change and modify Free-
rider III components, otherwise you might void the warranty
● Using Freerider III in a way other than those described in Chapter 2.1, "System
Overview", on page 12 can seriously impact the inherent safety features of the sys-
tem
● Only use the FR3-BA89WH (NH2054RS31) battery packs, chargers, and office
power supplies that R&S SwissQual recommends to avoid damage to the unit and
to not void the warranty
If you received NH2054HD31 batteries with your system, you can continue to use
those batteries instead of the NH2054RS31.
● Do not run Freerider III in an outdoor environment without the FR3-BP backpack
● To prevent Electrostatic Discharges (ESD), always touch the aluminum main frame
near the fans before you interact with the system, for example, to exchange SIMs,
and so on.
● For the best antenna efficiency, do not guide the phone USB cable under the
phone
● Always turn off the system and remove all power cables and batteries from the unit
before you change any hardware components
● Do not drop the Freerider unit
● Do not cover the air inlet at the bottom or the air outlet at the top of the Freerider
unit. For example, do not rest the base of Freerider III on a soft surface that might
restrict airflow
● To be rainproof, the 2 zippers of the FR3-BP must touch in the middle of one side
of the FR3-BP
An improperly secured Freerider III system in a vehicle use case can cause
injury.
Ensure that the Freerider III system is securely restrained before your drive.
Before you repair, store, or transport a unit, you need to review Chapter 2.6, "Warranty,
Storage, Maintenance, Repair, and Shipment", on page 58.
Although the FR3-BA89WH conforms to the UN safety tests, you need to handle the
battery pack carefully. Before you use a FR3-BA89WH, read the safety guidelines in
Chapter 2.6, "Warranty, Storage, Maintenance, Repair, and Shipment", on page 58.

2.3.1.4 Usage
● For sufficient airflow to cool the devices, only operate the system with the top cover
closed.
● To completely open the cover, disconnect the charger, that is, the FR3-OPS or
FR3-VPS.
Turn off the phone before you remove replace the SIM card.
Failure to turn the power can result in a damaged phone.
3. Put the FR3-CORE on a flat surface, press the latch on the top cover, and open the
unit completely.
5. Remove the plastic locking plate and remove the phone from the mount.
8. Put the phone back in the mount and secure it in place with the plastic locking
plate.
The Battery Status Display is active even if you use an external power supply. If the
batteries are not fully charged, then they will be charged according to the capability of
attached charger. the segment blink according the charge status.
The batteries in the FR3-CORE are hot swappable, see "Battery Hot Swap"
on page 27; otherwise, you can connect the unit to an external power source to
recover from a low battery status. If you cannot perform either of these actions, you
need to stop all active measurements on the FR Master.
When the expected remaining operation time drops to 5 minutes, the BMC triggers an
automatic shutdown. If the FR3-CORE components do not shutdown correctly within 4
minutes, the BMC triggers a hard power off.
You cannot stop the automatic shutdown process after the low battery alarm is trig-
gered. After such a shutdown, you need to turn the I/O switch OFF and insert charged
batteries or attach an external power supply before you can restart the system.
or the office power supply without the need for a system shutdown and start cycle. This
hot-swap capability allows you to operate Freerider III continuously.
The BMC must contain at least one smart battery to fulfill the minimum charge condi-
tion.
Freerider III ignores the minimum charge state if the system is connected to the mains.
3. Loosen the screw to the right of the battery locking bar and swing open the bar.
4. Check on the FR Master or LCD battery display to see which battery has the lowest
charging state.
6. Align the ridge on the top of the battery with the notch at the top of the empty bay
and insert the charged battery into the bay.
7. Guide the battery foil handles through the corresponding openings in the locking
bar.
2.3.2.1 Usage
The FR3-BP is a specially designed carrying harness that is designed to carry the
weight of the FR3-CORE on your hips and not on your back.
● Before you perform the following steps, ensure that you have installed the system
configuration that you intend to use.
● To be rainproof, the 2 zippers of the FR3-BP must touch at the middle of one side
of the FR3-BP
2. Align the FR3-BP so that your hips are in the middle of the hip belt, snap the center
buckles together, and then tighten both of the hip belt straps so that the buckle is in
the middle.
3. Pull the shoulder straps until the padding is snug against your shoulders.
Note: Do not tighten the straps completely as this action shifts the load distribution
from your hips to your shoulders.
4. Adjust the position of the buckle at the shoulder pad to the position in the following
image, that is, close to collarbone, and pull the upper positioning straps to bring the
upper part of the FR3-BP close to your back.
5. Snap the buckles of the sternum strap together and tighten until the strap is almost
straight.
The sternum strap relieves the shoulder joints of loads, stabilizes the shoulder
straps and prevents the FR3-BP from slipping from the shoulders.
3. Pull the textile cover toward the back of the FR3-BP to gain access to the top cover
latch.
4. Press the latch and open the top cover of the core.
Note:
● For complete access to the components, place the FR3-BP on a flat surface
and completely swing open the top cover.
● For the open backpack configuration, adjust the length of the straps on the side
of backpack so that the FR3-CORE is accessible.
The bottom of the FR3-CORE has a charging downstream port (CDP) to provide power
to an external device, such as the FR Master tablet. For this purpose, you can use the
original charger cable that came with the FR Master tablet or the optional FR3-
DCPCAB extension USB 2.0 cable.
Use the CDP port for increasing the battery duration only, since it does not provide
enough power to charge the tablet.
Typically a fully charged tablet battery lasts for more than 8 hours.
2. Connect the A-male connector of the USB 2.0 charging cable to the CDP port at
the bottom of the FR3-CORE.
3. Guide the open end of the cable through the slot at the bottom of the backpack.
5. Guide the USB cable towards the hip belt and secure the cable with the 2 Velcro
straps on the hip belt.
6. Connect the other end of the USB cable to the external device that you want to
charge.
7. Secure the unused portion of the USB cable with the 2 Velcro straps on the hip
belt.
Note: If the cable is not long enough to reach the FR Master tablet, you can use
the optional FR3-DCPCAB extension cable. The length of the cable is intentionally
short for optimum charging performance. This cable does not provide USB connec-
tivity.
2.3.3 NCM
The NCM is a small Intel based PC that runs the RsSmartProbe4QP service and the
R&S Scanner Measurement Engine software that enables the interaction of the FR
Master tablet and the Freerider III hardware, for example, the battery charge status dis-
play. These two components also enable scanner configuration and monitoring on the
FR Master tablet, as well as the transfer of measurement files.
To prevent abnormal system behavior, do not use the I/O button of the NCM to
start and to shut down the Freerider III system.
Use the main switch on the BMC to start and to shut down the system.
green NCM is on
● Locking Screw: Remove this screw to remove the NCM from the FR3-CORE
● 2 x USB 3.0: To attach the USB cable from UPC and BMC
● Speaker: Not used
● IR: Not used
2.3.3.2 Usage
► To manually restart the NCM, push the I/O button on the front panel.
Note: If the NCM does not shut down within 60 seconds, that is, the LED in the
switch remains lit, hold down the I/O button for longer than 6 seconds.
The main power source for the Freerider III portable use case is the FR3-BA89WH Li-
Ion cell-based smart battery.
For the office or vehicle use case, you need to have at least one FR3-BA89WH in your
system.
For important safety information about the FR3-BA89WH battery pack, see Chap-
ter 2.2, "Safety Instructions", on page 18.
2.3.4.2 Usage
Charge the FR3-BA89WH battery completely before each use. You can charge the bat-
teries in the external FR3-OMBC, which can charge 4 batteries in parallel or you can
leave the batteries in the BMC while the system is connected to an external power sup-
ply. The system does not need to be on.
The in-system-charging-time and the final charge state depend on the type of external
power supply, the system status, that is, idle or measuring, and the number of batter-
ies. Furthermore, depending on the power supply you can charge the batteries in par-
allel while the system is running. In case of FR3-VPS, however, this can increase the
charge time.
For a description of the corresponding charging procedure, see Chapter 2.3.7.1,
"Office Power Supply (FR3-OPS)", on page 46, Chapter 2.3.7.2, "Vehicle Power Sup-
ply (FR3-VPS)", on page 48, and Chapter 2.3.7.3, "Office Multiple Bay Charger (FR3-
OMBC)", on page 49.
If the ambient temperature is > 35 °C, you can place the FR3-CORE in a special
charging mode where the cooling fan operation is determined by the ambient tempera-
ture.
Do not charge the batteries at temperatures above 45 °C.
3. Ensure that the LED on the I/O button blinks at least once, and then press the I/O
button again.
Note: You can only use the system after the special charging mode has completed.
You can then turn on the system with the I/O button.
Recalibration
The batteries can track and estimate the maximum error of the battery charge state.
When the error exceeds the battery internal specification, the battery raises the recali-
bration flag, which causes the BMC in the FR3-Core to run a recalibration cycle.
During this cycle, the BMC forces the system to draw power only from the battery with
the flag to drain the battery. After the battery has discharged, the BMC switches over to
the remaining batteries to power the system. That is, you might not even be aware that
the recalibration cycle is running except if you notice that the batteries are charging
asynchronously.
If you recharge the battery completely with a normal charge cycle, the recalibration
cycle automatically ends. However, if you recharge the battery before it has dis-
charged, the recalibration cycled automatically restarts the next time that you turn on
the system.
For more information on the scanner, including operation and maintenance, see the
manuals that came with the scanner.
2. Lower the scanner on the mounting plate inside FR3-Core2, slide the scanner right
or left, and then secure the scanner in place with two knurled-head screws.
b) Connect the short LAN cable from the TSME "LAN" connector to a free socket
on the LAN switch.
c) Connect the antenna cable to the "RF IN" connector of the TSME
"GPS ANT" is not used.
d) For a MIMO setup with two TSMEs inside, you also need to connect each end
of the SYNC KABEL 2 TSME to the "AUX" socket on each TSME.
For more information on the scanner, including operation and maintenance, see the
manuals that came with the scanner.
2. Connect the power cable to the [DC IN] socket of the scanner, and then tighten the
coupling nut to lock the connector.
3. Lower the scanner on the mounting plate inside FR3-Core2, slide the scanner
right, and then secure the scanner in place with two knurled-head screws.
c) Connect the antenna cable to the "RF IN" connector on the IBflex.
"GPS ANT" is not used.
The FR3-OPS requires 3.5 hours for a full charge cycle. You can charge the batteries
while the Freerider III system is in operation without affecting the charge time.
Remove the FR3-CORE from the FR3-BP before you connect the FR3-OPS or FR3-
VPS.
Do not use the FR3-OPS with any hardware other than the FR3-CORE/FR4-
CORE.
Failure to do so can cause permanent damage to the FR3-OPS.
External Interfaces
An FR3-OPS has the following interfaces:
● Power mains AC input with standard C14 socket
● LEMO connector with polarity coding for power out
● Blue LED to display output power on status
The FR3-VPS allows you to power a Freerider III/Freerider 4 system from the cigarette
lighter socket of your vehicle.
A FR3-VPS offers the following functionality:
● Power input cable (0.9m) with a cigarette lighter plug
● Input voltage: 12 Vdc to 16 Vdc
● DC Output: 16 Vdc with a maximum output power of 120 W, cable length 1.8m
● Input Fuse: 15A mini auto blade
● Output overcurrent protection
External Interfaces
Figure 2-28 shows the connectors on the front panel of the FR3-VPS. The cables are
coded to ensure that you connect them correctly.
Pwr LED
Only replace the fuse with a fuse of the same type and strength.
Usage
Even though the FR3-VPS can deliver enough power to operate the system, FR3-
CORE requires a minimum of one charged battery in the BMC to operate. This battery
acts as uninterruptible power supply (UPS) during motor cranking.
Due to the power limitations of the cigarette lighter socket, the charging current and
voltage toward the FR3-BA89WH batteries are limited. The achievable recharge time
for 4 x FR3-BA89WHs therefore depends on the overall system load. Assuming a typi-
cal system load, you can expect the 4 batteries to be charged to a maximum of 80% to
85% capacity within 6 hours. Due to limited output voltage of 16.0V, the FR3-VPS can-
not fully charge the batteries to 100%.
► To recharge a FR3-BA89WH to 100%, use the optional Office Multiple Bay Charger
(FR3-OMBC) or the Office Power Supply (FR3-OPS).
The FR3-VPS does not support brown out protection for the vehicle battery. Instead,
you need to turn on the engine when the FR3-VPS is on and detach the FR3-VPS from
the cigarette lighter socket if vehicle is off for a longer period.
Installation
2. Connect the input cable to the cigarette lighter socket of the vehicle.
3. (Optional) To operate the system in the FR3-BP with the FR3-VPS attached:
a) Remove the FR3-CORE from the backpack.
b) Guide the FR3-VPS output cable through the slot at the bottom of the backpack
and connect the cable to the PWR connector on the FR3-CORE.
c) Put the FR3-CORE into the backpack.
d) Connect the FR3-VPS output cable to the FR3-VPS.
The Office Multiple Bay Charger can house and charge 4 FR3-BA89WH batteries.

Usage
For usage information, see the FR3-OMBC manual.
Do not use the FR3-OPS with any hardware other than the FR3-CORE/FR4-
CORE.
Failure to do so can damage the FR3-OPS permanently.
In most scenarios, you can configure the FR Master as the GPS source for the Free-
rider III system.
However, you can also use the following external GPS receivers with Freerider III:
● Bluetooth GPS Receiver: You can store the receiver in the inside pocket at the top
of the Freerider III backpack.
► To recharge a Bluetooth GPS receiver, connect the cable that came with the
receiver to the DCP port of the FR3-CORE.
To verify that the GPS delivers data, wait until ROMES (scanner) has started and then
open the log file in: C:\ProgramData\Rohde-Schwarz\4QP\Logs\. Search for the
following message: LocationProviderAccess - Gps 'COM_ (Qstarz 818XT)' is delivering
data now!
The Qstarz 818XT has a switch to set the sampling frequency to either 10 Hz or 1 Hz
(or turn it off):
● The 10 Hz setting is intended for “high speed” applications providing 10 samples
per second and thus providing more precise coordinates when moving at higher

2. On the FR Master, touch the main menu , and then touch "Device manager".
3. Touch the plus sign (+) at the top of the screen and touch "PCTEL SeeGull".
5. Touch "Scan devices" at the bottom of the screen and wait until the scanning proc-
ess stops.
If you use QualiPoc in Remote Probe (SmartMonitor) mode, you can start and stop
scanner measurements, if an IBflex scanner is connected to the QualiPoc device.
The control of the scanner is restricted to start and stop, i.e., the configuration of scans
is not allowed.
Refer to Manual - SmartMonitor.pdf.
This configuration has the lowest weight and is best-suited for measurement cam-
paigns in pedestrian areas, and public transportation with expected reasonable cover-
age.
In this configuration, the devices in the top cover are unmodified and use the original
device internal RF antennas. The 15 cm spacing between the phones offers a reason-
able isolation for urban environments with reasonable coverage and multipath propa-
gation. For the optional scanner, you can place a multi-band dipole paddle antenna in
the top cover.
The customized 2G/3G/4G multi-band dipole paddle antenna from Panorama Anten-
nas has the following characteristics
● Impedance: 50 Ohm
● Frequency range: 698-960, 1710-2170, 2396-2700
● Peak Gain Isotropic: 2 dBi
● Gain Compared to ½ wave: 0 dB
● Pattern: Omni-directional
● Max Input Power: 25 Watt
● Operating range: -30°C to +70°C
You can easily use Freerider III in a vehicle for ad hoc campaigns without the need for
permanent changes to the vehicle. To extend the usability of the system, you can use
the FR3-VPS power supply. For more information, see Chapter 2.3.7.2, "Vehicle Power
Supply (FR3-VPS)", on page 48.
For the best cooling performance, place the Freerider III system in the air conditioned
passenger compartment of the vehicle. If possible, keep the system in an upright posi-
tion for maximum airflow.
An improperly secured Freerider III system can cause injury in the event of an
accident.
Ensure that the system is in a secure place before you drive. The best practice is to
hang the backpack on the back of the front passenger seat, with the shoulder straps
draped over the seat and the sternum strap fastened across the front of the seat. If
possible, you can also use the hip strap to secure Freerider III in place. If you cannot
place the Freerider III in an upright position, put the Freerider III on the floor of the
vehicle with the straps facing down.
Placing the Freerider III system on a cushioned surface can cause overheating.
Ensure that the airflow to the base of the backpack is not blocked.
The bottom part of FR3-CORE has 8 mounting holes for M4 screws, which you can
use to mount the FR3-CORE directly to a vehicle chassis or to an equipment plate in a
vehicle. In this case, you do not need the FR3-BP backpack.
Follow these guidelines when you permanently install a Freerider III system in a vehi-
cle:
● System must be in an air-conditioned location
● FR3-CORE must be closed during operation for cooling reasons
● Secure the system in a location to prevent harm to the passengers in the event of
an accident
● System requires a 1.2 m x 0.3 m so that you can completely open the FR3-CORE
● To optimize the UPS performance when you start the vehicle, use at least two bat-
teries in slots 1 and 3 or slots 2 and 4 of the FR3-CORE.
See Figure 2-9 for the location of these slots.
2. Ensure that the BMC has at least one battery with a minimum charge of 20%, that
is, one bar of capacity status.
3. If required, for example in a vehicle or office use case, connect the external power
supply.
4. Open the top cover of the FR3-CORE until you have access to the main I/O button.
2. Open the core top cover until you get access to the I/O main switch.
3. Press the I/O button on the FR3-CORE to trigger the power off sequence.
The I/O LED blinks green during the shutdown sequence. As soon as the NCM has
shutdown, the BMC turns off the power to the other components. If the NCM shut-
down fails, the BMC turns off the power after 4 minutes, regardless of the status of
the connected devices.
When the TSMx/NCM shuts down, e.g. due to low battery, the running measurement
files, located in "Recording" folder, in
D:\ProgramData\Rohde-Schwarz\SwissQual Smart\DataCollection\
Results\), stop.
Once the TSMx/NCM starts again, the measurement files are zipped (into the correct
format for post processing) and moved to the "MeasurementFiles".
The same procedure also applies when TSMx/NCM is switched off by pressing the
power button during a measurement.
Note that the scanner measurements are not resumed after a new start.
R&S SwissQual does not accept liability for damage that occurs due to the improper
installation of hardware components in a vehicle. Only a qualified technician, preferably
one that has been trained by R&S SwissQual, should modify the unit.

method to contact us.
2.6.2 Storage
► To store a Freerider III system, disconnect the cables, and remove the batteries.
► To maintain the performance of the FR3-BA89WH battery pack, store the battery
pack at a temperature between -10 °C and +50 °C.
2.6.3 Maintenance
● Replacing Batteries................................................................................................. 59
● Cleaning..................................................................................................................59
● Waterproofing..........................................................................................................59
FR3-BA89WH Battery
The FR3-BA89WH is a lithium-ion cell based battery pack with a lifespan of 2 years or
600 cycles. R&S SwissQual recommends that you replace this battery pack when you
detect a strong decrease in usable capacity. If you need to replace this battery pack,
contact a R&S SwissQual sales representative.
NCM Battery
The NCM contains one lithium battery that has a lifespan of approximately five years. If
your NCM loses data and time settings, contact our support center. You cannot replace
this battery yourself.
2.6.3.2 Cleaning
Periodically wipe the textile cover and the system components with a damp cloth:
● Do not use abrasives or solvents
● Do not soak the cloth as stray drops can cause short circuits
2.6.3.3 Waterproofing
The textile shell of the FR3-BP has a water resistant coating that should last several
years without the need for maintenance. If you detect a performance decrease, use a
normal textile waterproofing spray.
2.6.4 Repair
● Replacing a Fuse.................................................................................................... 59
Most Freerider III components use self-recovering and none-replaceable fuses. How-
ever, some of the components use standard replaceable fuses that you can buy in
most electronic stores. You can replace such a fuse without the assistance of a R&S
SwissQual employee.
Ensure that the replacement fuse is of the same type and rated for the same current
and voltage as the original fuse.
Remove the FR3-BA89WH battery pack and then carefully pack the Freerider III sys-
tem before you ship the system.
Since the FR3-BA89WH contains Lithium Ion batteries, always check the applicable
local, national, and international regulations for transporting a Lithium Ion battery
before shipping the FR3-BA89WH.
When you check these regulations, keep the following points in mind:
● The Lithium Ion battery in the FR3-BA89WH is not classified as dangerous accord-
ing to Directive 1999/45/EC and its amendments. Nevertheless, the battery is UN
test certified
● You can only ship a maximum of two FR3-BA89WH in one package
● For the shipping package, use a stable cardboard box that will prevent the content
from being damaged even at drop from a height of 1.2 m
● To prevent short circuits, isolate the batteries from each other in the package
● Attach the following warning label for Li-Ion batteries on the package
● A maximum of two FR3-BA89WH batteries are allowed as hand luggage for flights
Please contact your airline for the specific regulations.
● A maximum of two FR3-BA89WH are allowed as luggage for passengers flights

3.2.1.2 Appearance
Specifies the theme that QualiPoc Freerider III uses and provides an option to disable
the screen timeout, that is, the "Keep screen on" option:
● The "Keep screen on" option overrides the system screen timeout settings, for
example, you cannot press the power button to turn the screen off. If you select the
"Allow screen to be dimmed" option, QualiPoc Freerider III uses the Android
"Screen timeout" setting to dim the screen.
● During the speech double ended tests, in order to prevent missed calls, the screen
is always kept on, even if the option "Keep screen on" is disabled.
● "Use NTP server for time sync". Enable this if you want to use NTP time synchroni-
zation.
● "NTP server"
● "Phone number"
"Power save threshold" prevents QualiPoc Freerider III from starting a campaign or QC
trace logging when a certain battery level is reached. If the threshold is reached during
a campaign, QualiPoc Freerider III stops the campaign and QC trace logging. In both
cases, QualiPoc Freerider III adds a "Battery too low" message to the log file.
Enable "Earpiece Mute" to mute the earpiece device. Available on certain phone mod-
els only.

tor. Touch the desired technology, then select the type of the signaling messages to be
shown.
The IP Monitor screen allows you to selectively filter out messages that belong to the
DNS, FTP, HTTP, ICMP, RTCP, and SIP protocols.
3.2.3 Maps
Setting Description
"Location services" This command opens the Android location services menu.
For more information, see the Manual - QualiPoc Handheld.pdf document.
"Location provider"
● "Automatic location"
● Touch "Location provider" to select the GPS device to use for the map among:
– "Internal GPS device".
For Freerider III use case, this option allows to follow FR Slaves taking a different path than the
FR Master, e.g., when a flying drone embeds a slave to monitor/validate cell sites' configuration.
– "Freerider Master location provider". Available only on a FR Slave.
– "Fused location provider": Android interface providing the best available location out of all availa-
ble providers i.e., WiFi, GPS and mobile networks.
– "Bluetooth GPS"
– "URL Based GPS location": It only works with Android 8 or higher version.
– "NCM GPS". A GPS that is attached to NCM.
● "Check Location Accuracy"
● Enable "Use Barometric Altitude" if you want to use phone's sensor for more precise altitude calcula-
tion.
Mandatory: Tap on "Barometric Altitude Reference " to set the height of the current location. The alti-
tude is calculated out of this reference value and the value obtained from the barometric pressure dif-
ference.
Get "Baromethric Altitude Reference " either from the GPS information or from the sensor. To read
sensor's information, go to keypad and enter "*#0*#", then click "Sensor".
● Click "Manual location" to manually enter indoor positions.
● Enable "Walk sensor interpolation" to replace direct location interpolation between two manual way-
points with the real walking way.
Note: Dealing with location issues while running tests in trains: see "Using the Wi-Fi train network to get
GPS coordinates" on page 85.
Setting Description
"Seamless Transition By default, this option that checks the GPS accuracy is set to 0 m. In that case, you cannot add waypoints
Condition" manually.
If the last valid GPS position is older than 2 seconds, or if the GPS accuracy is above the set threshold, you
can add waypoints manually.
"BTS settings" For more information, see the Manual - QualiPoc Handheld.pdf document.
"Show inactive cells" Displays inactive cells if the "BTS monitor" option is enabled.
"Online mode" Downloads missing map tiles from the Internet. Some of the map providers do not completely download
missing tiles, for example Google, which only partially downloads tiles.
"Offline mode on Disables "Online mode" when a campaign starts, which is particularly useful for data tests. Indeed, "Online
campaign start" mode" interferes with data tests, as the map tile being downloaded takes resources from the test in execu-
tion, which then results in lower throughput.
"On campaign start" Resets the tracking line when a campaign starts.
This option is enabled by default.
"On floor plan Automatically resets tracking when you start a campaign or change the floor plan
change"
"Default floor plan Specify the default floor plan type, for example, "Geo-referenced"
type"
"Volume keys to set Use the volume keys to move between waypoints
waypoint"
Setting Description
"Show cached Displays the download status of the map tiles in one of the following ways:
areas" ● Tile with green background: Cached map tile
● Gray background with "Map tile not cached"
When you select "Show cached areas", a slider appears on the map to change the zoom level of the
cached areas.
"SD Card root direc- Path of the SD card to be used for storing cached map tiles
tory URL"
In combination with "URL based GPS location", you can set manual waypoints on the
map (by checking "Use manual location" checkbox) when you lose the signal, e.g., in
tunnels.
When you switch to a different location provider, QualiPoc restores the previous Wi-Fi
settings.
QualiPoc Handheld uses the Wi-Fi connection for running any data test.
In Freerider III use case, the FR Master uses the Wi-Fi connection while the FR Slaves
use the mobile data connection (unless you set a different data interface in the job).
Note: URL based GPS only works with Android 8 or higher version.
3.2.4 Forcing
On the Forcing screen,"" you can select the technology/bands that you want to force
the phone to use.
The forcing that you configure here applies to all the tests that you run, unless you
specify additional forcing options in a test or session configuration.
3. Touch the technologies to be forced, e.g. "LTE". Optionally, touch "Band forcing":
a) Touch the bands to be forced
b) Touch "OK"
Note: The list of available frequency bands for the technology depends on the
capabilities of the device.
4. Touch "Done" (6)
For non standalone 5G-NR, set both 5G-NR and LTE band forcings.
Option "Enable 5G NR with LTE Anchor" in the LTE band forcing is available only on
5G-NR capable devices.
If you experience any issues with forcing and/or advanced forcing functionalities, do
not try solving them by performing a factory reset on the phone. Contact our Customer
Support Center instead.
Please consult Chapter B, "Customer Support Center", on page 286 for the best
method to contact us.
The "Advanced Forcing" option allows you to lock a phone to a specific technology,
that is, static forcing, such as LTE EARFCN, LTE PCI, WCDMA UARFCN, WCDMA
PSC, and GSM BCCH.
For a complete description of the current device support of advanced forcing features,
see the 20.3 Release Notes.
This feature is only supported in Freerider III mode and does not add any information
to the measurement file, that is, you will not see this information in NQDI.
You can use advanced forcing as campaign forcing. As with static advanced forcing,
when you apply advanced forcing, a Forcing dialog box remains open. This process
can take up to 30 seconds to complete. On some phones, a reboot is required. While
the forcing is on, the "Stop campaign" command is available. Again, on some phones,
the "Stop campaign" action initiates a reboot. For the affected phone models, see the
20.3 Release Notes.
When a campaign with advanced campaign forcing is running, the "Forcing" menu is
not available. Furthermore, campaign forcing overwrites any existing static forcing. At
the end of the campaign, the campaign forcing is reset and, if set, the static forcing is
applied. For example, if you configure static forcing and then start a campaign
sequence that contains at least one campaign that is configured with advanced cam-
paign forcing, that particular campaign uses the advanced campaign forcing while the
other campaigns in the sequence use the static forcing.
If the selected cell has poor coverage, the device might take longer than 25 seconds to
camp on the cell.
4. Type the number of the channel that you want to lock, e.g. 10588, and then touch
"OK"
5. Touch "Done"
Example:
The locked PSC is the only PSC that appears in the active set list, although the locked
PSC is weaker than others.
Example:
Although the locked PCI signal is weaker than one of the neighbors, PCI remains as
the serving signal.
If you experience any issues with forcing and/or advanced forcing functionalities, do
not try solving them by performing a factory reset on the phone. Contact our Customer
Support Center instead.
Please consult Chapter B, "Customer Support Center", on page 286 for the best
method to contact us.

The "Advanced Analysis" screen allows you to configure additional QualiPoc Freerider
III settings.
● "Set max Thrpt for...": Allows you to set the maximum throughput in kbps for differ-
ent technologies.
This value is mostly used for charts and color coding.
● "Log captured IP packet": Enable this option to display the packet details in the IP
monitor
Note that this option is disabled by default; you only need it for real time packet
details' decoding in the IP monitor.
● "Raw IP Call Trace Logging".
● "Logcat Logging": check the box to enable Logcat logging and store enhanced
debugging information for your QualiPoc device.
– The process starts writing a log file when QualiPoc starts and runs as long as
QualiPoc runs, i.e when QualiPoc is measuring and when QualiPoc is in idle
mode.
– QualiPoc stores Logcat files and regular log files under the same folder,
\QualiPoc\Logs, but the Logcat filename have the following naming conven-
tion: [unitname]-[unitID]-logcat-[date-time]_[number].log
When QualiPoc starts, a .dump file is created. When this file reaches 100 MB,
the ending becomes .dump.1. Regularly, i.e at startup, each 60 seconds and
at exit, .dump.1 files are renamed to .log.
Note: QualiPoc performs a memory check each 60 seconds; if the SD card
memory is less than 300 MB, the oldest Logcat files are deleted. Logcat files
are deleted after seven days.
● "Layer 3 UI Decoder": by default, decoding of layer 3 messages is enabled.
Uncheck the box to disable it and improve Freerider III master performances.
As this option can degrade the measurement performance of the phone, you should
only enable Raw QC trace logging for troubleshooting a problem.
QualiPoc supports the enhanced voice services (EVS) codec developped by 3GPP,
and intended for VoLTE release 12. The support of playing and recording 48 kHz voice
samples is part of the introduction of the codec. For more information about the
enhanced voice services (EVS) codec, refer to http://www.3gpp.org/ftp/Specs/archive/
26_series/26.441/26441-c00.zip, and particularly to "References" chapter.

The following procedure describes how to create a scan for a TSMx or an iBflex scan-
ner.
Tip: You can also open the "Device manager" by Touching and Holding the NCM
icon on the Information Banner.
1 = Scanner status
2 = Touch and hold to move, cut, copy, delete, or paste a scan
3 = Add scan to selected configuration
4 = Displays list of available scanner configurations
5 = Creates new scanner configuration
6 = Delete or duplicate scanner configurations
7 = Check scanner details and change scanner name
8 = Updates scanner configuration
9 = Details of scanner configuration profile
Note: Repeat this step for each scan that you want to configure.
You can define a channel range only for GSM technology. You cannot define chan-
nel ranges, when you configure LTE and WCDMA scans, but just single channels,
and multiple channels for the same band:
If you want to configure a scan that uses Automatic Channel Detection, see Chap-
ter 3.5.8, "Automatic Channel Detection", on page 159.
If you are configuring a PCTel IBflex scanner, do not change the default scanner
"Name" or enable the "Save results to SD-Card" option in the configuration.
For a complete description of the IBflex configuration options, see Chapter 3.5.3,
"IBflex Scanner Configuration Options", on page 136.
Assign a front-end (antenna port) of the connected scanners to each scan man-
ually:
● Otherwise the auto option sets it automatically.
● You can always choose between four front-ends, even if not all exist. If you
select a non-existing one, the highest available is assigned automatically.
● Selected front-ends are listed under the "Internal type" scanner parameter.
5. If you want to create a new profile, touch the plus sign (+) beside the profile list,
enter a Name for the profile, and then touch "OK".
6. Touch "Apply", touch "OK" on the "Apply scanner configuration" screen, and then
touch "Done".
b) At the bottom of the screen, touch the "Start Scanner Measurement" check
box.
8. In the "Devices" list, touch "GPS", and configure the GPS options.

Note: Figure 3-83 is for an internal GPS device. You can also connect a USB or
Bluetooth GPS device to the NCM, which sends the location information to the FR
Master, which in turn shares the information with the FR Slaves.
The information related to the GPS is reported in the information banner. The
cross-hatching indicates the the GPS is not ready:
Touch "GPS" in the information banner to display the GPS settings under "Devi-
ces".
Long-touch to customize the value you want to display; the default value is the last
GPS coordinates update.
You need to take the following considerations into account when you configure an
IBflex scan.
Although the following figures are from QualiPoc Handheld, the same functionality is
available on the FR Master.
The performance of the PCTEL IBflex scanner, that is, the scan rate, when the BCCH
Layer 3 scan and C/I options are enabled, can be very poor if all of the GSM bands
and channels are scanned. The maximum number of allowed channels is 2560. The
Layer 3 scan works on a dwelling time basis, that is, the scanner remains on a channel
for the duration of the dwelling time value to collect and report Layer 3 data.
► To optimize the GSM Layer 3 performance of the IBflex scanner, enter "Dwelling
time" of 3 in the scanner configuration.
Note: As the "Dwelling Time" for a GSM scan is defined as a multiple of 12 GSM
frames, the 3 value is equivalent to 166ms.
Figure 3-88: BCCH Layer 3 enabled (right) and BCCH Layer 3 disabled (left)
You can set a maximum of 24 channels for an LTE scan; however, some LTE bands do
not allow all configurable bandwidth and the validity of the LTE channels depends on
the bandwidth that you select.
Among other parameters, the LTE "Scanner" monitor displays the bandwidth that you
set in the scan configuration and the real EARFCN cell bandwidth.
If the bandwidth that you set in the configuration ("Scan BW") is lower than the mea-
sured bandwidth (Cell BW), some Layer 3 information might be incomplete or missing.
Figure 3-89: LTE Signal (Sync) on the right and LTE Signal (Ref) on the left
Although the following figures are from QualiPoc Handheld, the same functionality is
available on the FR Master.
You can view the following MIMO parameters on the "LTE Signal (Ref.)" monitor:
● CN: Channel Condition Number
● Estimated CQI and Throughput for:
– L1cl: Single layer closed-loop spatial multiplexing (rank-1 precoding)
– L1ol: Single layer open-loop spatial multiplexing
– L2cl1: Dual layer closed-loop spatial multiplexing (Layer 1)
– L2cl2: Dual layer closed-loop spatial multiplexing (Layer 2)
– L2ol1: Dual layer open-loop spatial multiplexing (Layer 1)
– L2ol2: Dual layer open-loop spatial multiplexing (Layer 2)
● Mapping to Single-User MIMO Modes:
– Mode 6: L1cl
– Mode 2: (Transmit Diversity) L1ol
– Mode 4: L2cl1 & L2cl2
– Mode 3: L2ol1 & L2ol2
2. In the list of devices, touch the IBflex scanner, and then touch "Add scan".
5. To apply the configuration, touch "Apply", touch "OK" on the "Apply scanner config-
uration" screen, and then touch "Done".
MIMO
data
► To view the RSSI, RSRP, and RSRQ information for each antenna as well as the
averaged value, touch the gear icon on the "LTE Signal (Ref.)" monitor, and touch
"Tx1/Tx2".
MIMO measurement can also be performed by using two Rohde & Schwarz TSMA
scanners.
If you are using a TSMx scanner, you need to transfer the data from the TSMx NCM to
your FR Master. The scanner data is contained in two files:
● A position file, generated directly on the FR Master. The position information is part
of the mf file generated on the QP device.
● A scanner file.
Only the scanner file must be transferred to the FR Master mf file. The transfer is per-
formed using the Wi-Fi hotspot, created on the TSMAx/NCMx.
To record ROMES file, i.e. with a *.rscmd extension, check "Include SME results
(RSCMD)" in "Device manager - Scanner settings". The file is zipped (and part of the
scanner *.sqz archive), together with the *.mf file.
As *.rscmd file is 10 times larger than the *.mf file, do not enable the feature unless
really needed
Perform "Apply scanner configuration" to the scanner to enable or disable the RSCMD
file recording.
When the TSMx/NCM shuts down, e.g. due to low battery, the running measurement
files, located in "Recording" folder, in
D:\ProgramData\Rohde-Schwarz\SwissQual Smart\DataCollection\
Results\), stop.
Once the TSMx/NCM starts again, the measurement files are zipped (into the correct
format for post processing) and moved to the "MeasurementFiles".
The same procedure also applies when TSMx/NCM is switched off by pressing the
power button during a measurement.
Note that the scanner measurements are not resumed after a new start.
You can monitor scanner measurements in real time on the "Scanner" monitor. You can
set filters, for example, bands and channels, to customize the data that you view.
QualiPoc only creates a measurement file for the scanner data if you select the "Start
Scanner Measurement" check box in the "Device Manager" before the measurement.
However, QualiPoc always displays real-time measurement data on the "Scanner"
monitor.
If you use a mutliple monitor layout, be aware that the higher load on the Bluetooth link
might make real-time monitoring less responsive. The higher load does not have an
impact on the scanner data files.
To reduce the CPU load on the PC and to download scanner results faster, configure a
scanner profile with a simple scan, e.g., one LTE signal scan, before starting the down-
load.
2. ● Customize the contents of the monitor. QualiPoc displays the channels that you
select in Figure 3-98 in the selection order from left to right. In line charts, each
channel (up to 6) has a different color.
QualiPoc displays the channels that you select in Figure 3-98 in the selection
order from left to right. In line charts, each channel (up to 6) has a different
color.
● To select a single band, touch "Bands" above the chart, and then touch and
hold the band that you want to use for the chart.
● You can disable chart or a table from the monitor's context menu .
● To display a channel even in the absence of data, touch and hold the channel.
The channel turns light grey.
The context menu for the "Scanner" monitor has the following commands:
● "Max columns:[x]([y])": Specify the number of columns:
– The maximum and default value is "20".
– The number in brackets is the total amount of scanned channels.
● "Select rows": Specify the parameters to display in the lower part of the monitor for
each scanned channel.
Each technology has different parameters.
– Click the overflow icon on "Select rows" dialog to "Reset rows", i.e., reverts the
RF values to the default values.
● "Change timeout": In bar chart mode, the channels are persistent until new values
arrive from the scanner
You can adjust the "Persistency timeout". The default value is 5 seconds.
In line chart mode, QualiPoc does not save the history when you switch between
scan type.
● "Clear selection": Clears the current selection.
● "Reset min/max/avg": Resets the minimum, maximum, and average values
The "Measurement Cycles" view is available in the "Scanner" monitor. It shows the
"Time [sec]" and "Distance [m]" you need to complete a scan on the different config-
ured technologies.
The distance view is populated only if the GPS position is available. It is not populated
if manual location is used
Selected channels
The following procedure describes how to transfer TSMx scanner data to your FR Mas-
ter.
You do not need to perform these steps for the IBflex scanner, for which QualiPoc
automatically adds the scanner data to the QualiPoc measurement file.
TSMx scanner data measurement files are stored in the following location on the NCM:
C:\ProgramData\Rohde-Schwarz\4QP\Results.
QualiPoc only creates the measurement files if you select the "Start Scanner Measure-
ment" check box in the "Jobs" menu before you start a measurement.
Note: The NCM uses the FR Master Wi-Fi hotspot for transferring the scanner
measurement files.
On the FR Master hotspot, set a specific Wi-Fi channel under "Settings > Freerider
> Wi-Fi access point channel" to minimize interference and increasing file transfer:
Icon Description
► To view the details of an ongoing Wi-Fi transfer, swipe down over the Wi-Fi transfer
icons at the top of the screen.
2. Touch a job in the list, touch and hold the scanner, and then touch "Export all sur-
vey data".
► To monitor the battery level of a scanner, Touch the "NCM" status tab at the top of
the screen.
On the "Meas.file info", you can see various information about the scanner, such as:
● FPGA version
● FW version
● IP address
● Calibration date
● Front-end allocation, per scan
● and many more
4. Set the "Group" to "Scanner", then select the value you want to show.
You can export your scanner configuration profiles for use on other FR Masters.
► To export a scanner configuration profile, touch the menu icon at the top of the
screen, touch "Settings" > "Import/Export Configuration" > "Export Configuration" >
"Scanner configuration profiles", and touch the configuration profiles that you want
to export.
► To import a scanner configuration profiles, touch the menu icon at the top of the
screen, touch "Import/Export Configuration" > "Import Configuration", and locate
the scanner configuration profile file.
Automatic Channel Detection (ACD) allows you to scan WCDMA, LTE, LTE Nb-IoT and
5G-NR channels. This feature provides an alternative to manually configuring bands
and channels for a measurement.
The configuration of an ACD scan includes:
● Applying "BCCH Layer 3" scan to the channel that you add to the scanner profile.
● Editing the measurement rate.
You can use this feature on Rohde & Schwarz TSME, TSMW, and TSMA scanners. All
bands supported by the Rohde & Schwarz scanners can be used in the ACD measure-
ments.
e) The only settings that you can edit (and that is applied to the channels added to
a profile) are:
● "BCCH Layer 3"
● "Max. meas. rate (Hz per channel)"
5G NR ACD Cases
● By default, ACD only searches for the standard cases as defined in TS 38.101
("Auto").
● You can also set "All of FR" or "All" to cover more cases.
● To set this option, go to "Scanner -> Scanner settings".
RF Power scan
ACD scan implicitly performs an RF Power scan on the configured bands too.
You can monitor ACD scanner measurements in real time on the "Scanner" monitor.
Note: The bandwidth that is displayed only correlates with the other channels in
the same band/row. For example, in Figure 3-115, the bandwidth for "LTE 6200" is
10.0 MHz while the bandwidth for "LTE 1301", "LTE 1651", and "LTE 1850" is 20
MHz.
Information available for LTE band 46 (TDD, 5 MHz, unlicensed spectrum shared with
WiFi) is different from typical LTE bands.
LTE band 46 channels can be detected but not decoded.
GSM channel, detected through ACD scans of other technologies, is displayed with a
green line. Click the line to see more information about the channel.
● To add a single channel, touch the channel on the monitor, for example, "LTE
6200", and then touch "Add to configuration".
3. In the "Select configuration to add channels" list, touch "Create new configuration".
● To create a scan configuration profile that you can apply later, touch "Update".
Note: QualiPoc automatically names the profile, for examples,
ACD - 2016-02-09 08:06:50, and adds the profile to the "Scanner configura-
tion profile" list that you can access in the "Device Manager".
3. Click a scan configuration in the list, and then in the "Scanner configuration profile"
list, click the ACD profile that you want to apply, for example,
ACD - 2016-02-09 08:06:50.
For both WCDMA and LTE, you can analyze Automatic Channel Detection (ACD)
scanner data on the "ACD Scanner" sub-tab of the "Analysis" tab.
Depending on your needs, you can group the measurements by any of the columns.
The values in the "Status" column have the following definitions:
● 0 = Found
● 1 = Confirmed
● 2 = Active
The RF Power scan allows measuring user-defined frequency ranges called sweeps.
You can define up to 255 sweeps and customize their names.
To use the RF Power scan, you must install the R&S TSMx-K27 option on the scanner.
The configuration steps of the RF Power scan are identical in QualiPoc and on FR
Master; therefore, the following chapters display QualiPoc screenshots only.
2. Start the creation of the scan by following the procedure described in "To create a
new scan" on page 129 and reach step 3.
3. Touch "Any" under "Technology". The only available "Scan type" option is "RF
Power".
Note: The minimum allowed range is 25 kHz."From" and "To" values can have up
to 3 decimals, for example, "From" 3.001 MHz, "To" 3.026 MHz. The resolution is 1
KHz.
"Sweep name" field has a maximum of 50 characters.
QualiPoc raises an error if you enter frequencies that are not within the allowed
range.
Depending on the connected scanner, the allowed frequency range differs:
● TSME: from 350 MHz to 4400 MHz
● TSMW: from 30 MHz to 6000 MHz
We suggest that you define as many sweeps as available technologies / bands in
the measurement area, e.g., in Switzerland: GSM 900, GSM 1800, WCDMA I,
WCDMA VIII, LTE 1, LTE 3, LTE 7 and LTE 20.
We suggest that you select a name reflecting the technology / band, as this name
is then used by live monitoring and postprocessing.
6. Define "Advanced" parameters:
● "Auto bandwidth" (3). Enabled by default, this parameter performs a 20 MHz
scan, which is the maximum size for the scanner. If you disable "Auto band-
width", "Bandwith [Hz]" becomes active, allowing you to configure only the
desired spectrum, e.g., for LTE band 14, a 10 MHz bandwidth; then, any inter-
fering signals in neighboring bands are not considered, which results in lower
noise floor.
Note: the sample rate equals Bandwidth * 1.15
● "Bandwith [Hz]". Define the bandwith ranging from 1 MHz to 20 MHz.
● "FFT Size" (4). We recommend setting it to 1024.
● "Count of lines"
7. Touch "Apply", touch "OK" on the "Apply scanner configuration" screen, and then
touch "Done".
Perform the "Self-alignment procedure" on page 169 once per month, or twice per
month if the temperature fluctuates a lot.
Self-alignment procedure
1. Stop the scanner controller service.
2. Start the R&S TSME Device Manager and switch to "Self Alignment".
3. Replace the scanner antenna with a 50 Ohm SMA plug, else in most case the RF
input is greater than -45 dBm.
Note: Self-alignment is performed for antenna levels under -45 dBm.
4. Click "Start Self Alignment" and wait until the process terminates.
3. QualiPoc displays one of the defined sweeps at a time. Touch the sweep name (1)
to select the sweep you want to monitor (2).
Several parameters have an impact on the number of PCIs detected and on the scan
rate. The following table lists the thresholds for activation of wideband reference signal
and MIMO measurements.
Table 3-5: Thresholds for activation of WB RS and MIMO measurements
Max. eNodeBs Default (Diversity): 5 Min. SINR for Rank Default (Diversity): 2 dB
Min. RSRP Default (Diversity): -130 dBm Max. eNodeBs Default (Diversity): 5
Min. NB RS SINR Default (Diversity): -10 dB Min. RSRP Default (Diversity): -130 dBm
Max. Delta RSRP Default (Diversity): 100 dB Min. NB RS SINR Default (Diversity): -10 dB
to Best Cell
Default (QualiPoc): 20 dB Default (QualiPoc): 1 dB
In Diversity, the scanner engine scans the top 5 PCIs (per EARFCN in the wideband
signal) that have a CINR > - 10 dB and an RSRP better than -130 dBm, based on the
narrowband (SYNC channel) scan.
● Limited numbers of PCIs per EARFCN
● Higher scan rate
● Default Diversity settings that can be edited.
In QualiPoc, the scanner engine executes a wideband scan on every PCI reported
from the narrowband (SYNC channel) scan.
● Higher number of detected PCIs per EARFCN
● Lower scan rate
● Default QualiPoc and ROMES settings that can be edited.
With the scanner probe patches 18.1.0.45, 18.2.0.43, and starting from release
18.3, you can edit these values and ensure compatibility with Diversity.
3.5.11 GSM-R

enabling "Auto Expand", you display the decoded Layer 3 data.
3.5.16 5G-NR
You can perform 5G-NR signal scan or automatic channel detection in QualiPoc Free-
rider III.
For FR2 frequencies, you need to connect the downconverter TSME30DC (or
TSME44DC) to TSME6. For more information refer to
Installation - Rohde & Schwarz Scanners.pdf.
2. Start the creation of the scan by following the procedure described in "To create a
new scan" on page 129 and reach step 3.
5. Select "Band":
6. Enter either the "NR ARFCN" channel number or the "Frequency[MHz]" in MHz.
The other parameter gets filled in automatically.
Note: Channel range validation is provided.
8. Select "SS/PBCH periodicity" among 5, 10, 20, 40, 80 ms and 160 ms.
9. (Optionally) Set "Sync rate[Hz]" and "HS rate[Hz]". For more information, refer to
"Sync and high speed scan modules" on page 187.

As a result, the scanner measurement file size is bigger.
2. Start the creation of the scan by following the procedure described in "To create a
new scan" on page 129 and reach step 3.
5. Select "Band".
6. Select "SS/PBCH periodicity" among 5, 10, 20, 40, 80 ms and 160 ms. Default
value is 20 ms.
You can display information about the 5G-NR operating mode (standalone or non-
standalone), by enabling "5G Op Mode" on the "Selected rows" from the overflow
menu:
Note: 5G-NR signal scan monitor is also populated during the ACD scanning. It dis-
plays additional data of the found channels.
3.5.17 TAE
You can perform TAE measurements on the TSMx6 scanner only. Your scanner must
have the following options installed:
● TSMx6-K50 SCANNER OPTION: 5GNR
● TSMx6-K51 SCANNER OPT: 5GNR ADDON
If the scanner options are not installed, you can configure but not run TAE measure-
ments.
TAE LOS [m] LOS distance between the gNodeB RF antenna and the scanner antenna
TAE Altitude [m] Altitude of the point where the scanner is located
GPS cable length [m] Cable length and of the GPS antenna cable
Transmission time is calculated as the arrival time minus calibrated time delays.
You can monitor your TAE measurements on the "TAE 5G" monitor:
If at least one of the conditions is not met (value "nok"), the sample is dropped and not
considered in the measurement.
You can export the collected measurements as the .CSV file using a dedicated "Scan-
ner 5G-NR TAE" template. Refer to Chapter 4.3, "Exporting Measurement Data",
on page 243.
● Each test (single or multiple) corresponds to a "SessionID" in NQDI. You can also
individually configure the forcing, access point, and capture options for each job in
the sequence. Double-sided test cannot be added in a sequence with other tests.
For a description of the types of jobs that you can configure, see the
Manual - QualiPoc Handheld.pdf document. If you want to use a Call Server as
the B-Side device for a Speech Double Ended job, see the
Application Note - Diversity Call Server.pdf document.
For a description of the Freerider III limitations, see Chapter A, "Limitations",
on page 284 and the 20.3 Release Notes.
2. Swipe from the left or touch the sliding drawer icon to open the "All campaign
folders" drawer and touch the "Create campaign" icon .
3. In the "Create campaign" box, enter a name for the campaign, and then touch
"OK".
Tip:
Use folders and tags to organize your campaigns.
● To create a folder, touch the context menu in the "All campaign folders" area,
and touch "Create folder".
● To create a tag, touch the campaign in the list, touch the "Campaign tag" area
at the top right of the screen, and enter the name of the tag.
● To automatically add FR Slaves to all the columns, touch the context menu at
the top of the screen, and touch an option, for example, "Auto-assign connec-
ted slaves".
Note: When you create a campaign, "Auto-assign connected slaves" is the default
assignment option.
5. Create a "Single Job" or "Job Sequence".
6. (Optional) If you need to override the start delay that QualiPoc calculates, touch
the gear icon , touch "Instant start delay", and then touch a value.
If you configure a speech double ended test (call, video call, WhatsApp call and What-
sApp video call) on a FR Master, a linking icon is displayed between columns 1 and 2
(and between columns 3 and 4, 5 and 6) if these adjacent columns represent A- and B-
sides:
If the linking icon is selected (displayed in red), Freerider III starts the test immediately
without configuration call:
● If the FR Slave are not in the desired columns, simply reassign them.
● The FR Master does not check that the timings (in the linked columns) are the
same. We recommend creating the A-side job first, and then to copy/paste it to the
B-side column, changing both the side and the phone number.
● If forcing is set on one or both sides, the forcing must have a fixed duration.
Uncheck "External B unit" in the job, otherwise a full configuration call is execu-
ted.
Important:
You cannot leave and join again a campaign—respectively by using "Leave campaign"
and "Join campaign"—executing a speech double ended test without configuration call,
i.e., if the linking icon is selected (displayed in red): if you do so, Freerider III does
not generate the B-side file.
For the description of a single job, see Chapter 3.6, "Campaign Management",
on page 198. This section assumes that you have performed the steps in Chap-
ter 3.6.2, "Creating a Measurement Campaign", on page 199.
For a description of the types of jobs that you can configure, see the
Manual - QualiPoc Handheld.pdf document.
To run a single job on a single FR Slave, create a campaign with only one job and one
assigned FR Slave.
2. In the "Select job type" list, touch a category, for example, "Single Call Tests", and
then touch a job, for example, "Call to any Number":
3. Enter the relevant information, for example, a "Phone number", and then touch:
● The overflow icon at the job level to define "Packet capture" and "Scheduling".
● The overflow icon at the test level to define the access points.
Forcing settings
You can also specify advanced forcing settings such as "Channel", "Cell
lock", and so on. The settings that are available depend on the device
that you are using. For more information, see "Advanced Forcing"
on page 208.
Scheduling settings
Advanced Forcing
You can use advanced forcing as Job forcing in a measurement. You can copy and
paste forcing settings from one FR Slave to another as well as from one job to another
job.
When you apply the advanced forcing settings, QualiPoc may reboot the affected FR
Slaves, depending on the device and the forcing type.
Sync Action
By adding a "Sync" action to a FR Slave job, you mix speech double ended tests with
other tests and you synchronize the different tests between the involved FR Slaves.
When a "Sync" action is present, all FR Slaves wait for the others to reach the same
sync in the sequence, e.g., "Sync #2", before proceeding with the next test.
2. Swipe from the left or touch the sliding drawer icon to open the "All campaign
folders" drawer.
3. Touch a campaign in the list and touch the menu icon for this campaign.
Depending on the number of FR Slave that a campaign uses, for example, one cam-
paign uses 2 FR Slaves and another campaign uses 4 FR Slaves, you can run more
than one campaign simultaneously.
When you run more that one campaign simultaneously, you can only enable scanner
recording in one campaign.
When you start a job, the FR Master synchronizes the time on the FR Slaves.
To run a campaign
1. On the FR Master, touch the menu icon at the top of the screen and touch "Cam-
paigns"
2. Swipe from the left to open the "All campaign folders" drawer.
3. Touch a campaign in the list and touch "Start Campaign" at the top of the screen.
Tip: To add a FR Slave to a running campaign, touch the context menu of the FR
Slave, and touch "Join campaign".
When you stop a campaign, the measurement jobs stop on all the FR Slaves. If you
want to stop a job on a single FR Slave, see Chapter 3.6.3.2, "Removing a FR Slave
from a Running Campaign", on page 213.
● On the "Slaves" tab, touch and hold the Q icon of the FR Slave, and then touch
"Stop job".

file transfer to work.
You can create a single container file, that is, an *.SQC file, for all the measurement
files in a campaign. You can import *.SQC files directly in NQDI.
FR Master has the following campaign folder structure:
\QualiPoc\Results\<CampaignName>\<CampaignStartTime>\
<SystemName>\<UnitName>.
Table 3-9: Container file format for FR Master mode
The container file is in the <SystemName> folder. The structure inside the container is:
● Unit 1 name folder
● Unit xx name folder
● Scanner folder (optional folder for storing scanner measurement)
● Assets folder (optional folder for storing photo markers, screenshots, and indoor
floor plans)
● attributes.json file (containing the campaign metadata and among them, the
campaign tag)
Campaign tag:
– FR Master: set the campaign tag at campaign start or during measurement.
– FR Slave: you cannot change the campaign tag since attributes.json
does not exist on FR Slaves.
iBFlex scanner measurement files are created in the Scanner folder.
If you want to view floor plans in NQDI, you need to import the *.SQC file for the cam-
paign instead of the individual measurement files from the FR Slaves.
The Assets folder stores photo markers, screenshots, and indoor floor plans.
► To restore the campaign configuration to the configuration that existed when you
started QualiPoc, touch the context menu at the top of the screen, and touch
"Revert campaign".
Tip: To restore a campaign that you accidentally deleted, create a new blank cam-
paign with the same name and in the same folder, and then use the "Revert cam-
paign" command.
► To edit a job, for example to delete a job, touch and hold the item in the list, touch a
command at the top of the screen, and then touch "Done".
Note:
You can choose from the following editing options:
● Basic Editing: "Delete", "Cut", "Copy", "Paste Above", and "Paste Below"

For more information, see Chapter 3.5.6, "Monitoring Scanner Data", on page 146.
The "Events" monitor lists and notifies all most important events, for example Call
States, that QualiPoc traces during the tests.
Events are reported only on the condition change. For example, in case of LTE RSRP
< -80dBm, the event occurs only once RSRP drops below -80dBm, but not if RSRP
stays below -80 dBm.
This behavior is independent from the repeat option in the event profile.
QualiPoc assigns each event a unique index number and displays events in the follow-
ing locations:
● "Events" monitor
● "Map" monitor
● Line charts: QualiPoc displays all events for which you enable "Charts" (under
"Notification properties") as a marker line on those charts.
Figure 3-187:
On "Events" monitor, you can switch between list and table view, by touching the fol-
lowing icon (1)
Event numbering might differ between the FR Master and the FR Slaves. The "Map"
monitor only displays events from the selected FR Slaves. When you replay a mea-
surement file, the events are triggered from existing mtMessages.
By touching Settings under "Events" monitor, or Events, directly from "QualiPoc Set-
tings", define multiple event profiles and select the active profile.
The following table lists the event specifications and notification properties:

By enabling "Cell Ingress" under "QualiPoc Settings > Site Testing", you check for
missing cells in iBwave floorplans; it can be useful in scenarios where an indoor distrib-
uted antenna system (DAS) is used. The cells that are not listed in the indoor transmit-
ters' list are added as markers in both the "Events" and "Map" monitor. The determina-
tion of the ingress state is explained in the following chapter.
2. By defining thresholds and ingress time, determine when QualiPoc detects a miss-
ing cell.
Note: The default value for "Cell ingress LTE threshold" and "Cell ingress WCDMA
threshold" is -6.0 dBm.
3. Set your iBwave project as "Floor plan" under "Layers" menu. Refer to "To share an
iBwave Mobile project with QualiPoc" on page 246 for more details on the import of
iBwave projects in QualiPoc.
Note:
During import, you can edit the floorplan, i.e., edit the following transmitters' text
fields:
● "Technology"
● "Frequency band"
● "SiteName"
● "Channel Cell Id"
● "SiteID"
● "SectorID"
You cannot add cells.
4. Add a "Cell Ingress Marker" type (under "QualiPoc Settings > Events") to the event
profile in use.
6. Touch the marker to display the cell information. Touch again to display additional
cell details.

To determine the ingress state (no ingress/ingress), QualiPoc considers relative thresh-
olds based on the difference (Δ) between the strongest available cell defined in the
iBWave project in use and the listened cell.
The value you set (under "QualiPoc Settings > Site Testing") for "Cell ingress LTE
threshold"/"Cell ingress WCDMA threshold" is the lower threshold above which a cell
ingress is detected, considering the following formula:
In addition, you can set supplementary thresholds, namely "Medium" and "High", deter-
mining the color of the tracking line on the map.
No Ingre s s Ingre s s
In the "Cell Ingress" monitor, QualiPoc displays the list of cells whose ingress is detec-
ted. In addition to the cell info, QualiPoc displays the "Max RSRP [dBm]".
The iBwave project can contain zones, each zone having a different color, the defined
transmitters serving/covering a dedicated zone. On the "Tracking Settings" screen, you
can select "Zone Overlapping" as the "Active visualization". The tracking line takes the
color of the current zone or the overshooting zone according to the "Overshoot LTE
threshold" or "Overshoot WCDMA threshold" defined under "QualiPoc Settings > Site
Testing".
A custom monitor shows the histogram of the overlapping info for the different zones.
Antenna health check tests if the antennas in a DAS (distributed antenna system) work
in accordance with the planning. DAS is usually installed to provide an indoor coverage
in the shopping malls and office premises.
2. Select either "LTE threshold" or "WCDMA threshold" as the "Signal value to moni-
tor", to test either LTE or WCDMA technology.
3. The default values for the signal strength ("LTE RSRP threshold" or "WCDMA
RSCP threshold") and signal quality ("LTE RSRQ threshold" or "WCDMA Ec/Io
threshold") are set. Edit them if you wish.
4. Import an iBwave project that contains floor plans with antenna locations, cell infos
and zones.
5. Before starting the test, force the device to a band and a technology of the cell you
want to check.
6. To start the antenna health check test, start any data test.
You can monitor antenna health check test with the specific markers and the custom
made monitor:
1. Create the antenna health check marker under "QualiPoc Settings > Events".
c) Select the "Antenna Health Check Marker" in the "Marker Type" pop-up list.
Marker messages "OK " and "nOK" are defined regarding the thresholds defined in
the test configuration.
Marker messages are shown on the "Events" monitor every time the threshold for a
monitored signal level is crossed.
a) Click the gear wheel icon , and then click "Add monitor".
d) Click the overflow icon , and select "Signal Strength [dBm]" or "Signal Quality
[dB]".
"Signal Strength [dBm]" and "Signal Quality [dB]" are colored to match the different
polygon zones defined in the iBwave project.
Note: Antenna health check works properly if GPS signal is available or the man-
ual waypoints are added to the measurement file.
You can check several signals simultaneously by forcing individual slaves to different
technologies or bands.
You can only export survey data that you added to an iBwave *.ibwc file that you
imported into QualiPoc.
5. In the list of results, touch the iBwave export icon beside the survey data that you

do not want to import.
Click "Import" to start the import process.
Note: QualiPoc exports the data as a Zip file, which contains *.CSV, *.tab, and
image files.
If you want to access GSM hot channel information, you need to adjust the NQDI
import settings.
4. On the "Configuration" menu, point to "GSM Configuration", and then click "Chan-
nel Assignment".
5. In the "Operator Channel Assignment" dialog box, create or load a list of the rele-
vant operator channel assignments, and then click "OK".
