Q2. State principle of homogeneity.
Q3. What do you understand by significant figures?
Q4. Define relative error and write its formula.
Q5. Write any 2 limitations of Dimensional Analysis.
Q6. Name any 2 physical quantities having the dimensions [ML2T-2].
Q7. Give example of any 2 dimensionless variables.
Q8. Taking velocity, time and force as the fundamental quantities, find the
dimensions of mass.
Q9. Which of the following length measured is most accurate and why: 500
cm, 0.0005 cm, 6.00 cm.
Q10. Express the value of 1 parsec in light years.
(10 X 2 = 10 Marks)
Q11. The value of G in SI system is 6.67 X 10-11 Nm2kg-2. Find its value in CGS
system.
Q12. Check by the method of dimensions whether the given equation is correct:
T = 2π root (l/g)
Q13. The velocity ‘v’ of water waves depend on wavelength (take symbol as
lambda), density of water (take symbol as rho) and acceleration due to gravity
(g). Deduce by the method of dimensions the relationship between these
quantities.
Q14. If 2 resistors of resistances R1 = (4+- 5) Ω and R2 = (16 +- 0.5) Ω are
connected firstly in series and then in parallel. Find the equivalent resistance in
each case with limits of percentage error.
Q15. The moon is observed from 2 diametrically opposite points A and B on
earth. The angle subtended at the moon by 2 directions of observation is 1°54
radian. Given the diameter of earth is 1.276 X 107 m. Compute the distance of
the moon from the earth.
