1. Do you agree that companies have a debt to society apart from paying taxes
and obeying the law?
=> I totally agree that companies have a debt to society apart from paying taxes
and obeying the law for the following reasons. When companies go into
production only focus on how to generate maximum profit for their company but
forget that releasing harmful emissions affects the living environment of people in
society . The fact that companies pay taxes and comply with the law only follow
the government's request, contribute a part to the government fund, do not support
society at all. Therefore, companies need to be more conscious in production and
business for a better society.
Do you agree that by concentrating on making profits, companies are
contributing enough to society?
The answer to this question is no. Companies should not just concentrate on
making profits and neglect society. They need to also be responsible for the
society they are operating in and make sure that they are treating their employees
well, not polluting the environment, and contributing to the community.
Do you agree that managers should concentrate on making profits rather
than CSR?
=> I agree that managers should concentrate on making profits rather than CSR.
Because Profit is the main element to attract investments from investors or
successfully borrow loans from creditors in the process of running and expanding
business. Profit creates money and money cannot buy time, but it saves time.
Taking Covid era as shining evidence, companies which have good financial
statements can buy vaccines first without depending on the government and this
action has protected their subordinates from pandemics as well as related mental
illnesses. This helps life to come back to normal rapidly. It leads to the conclusion
that profit can eliminate detrimental impacts on risks. Large amount of profit help
companies can be stable in finance when suffering from a sudden impact,
especially is the spread of covid-19. Example: Although being forced to shut down
for 1 month because of Covid 19 expansion in VietNam during July, the BSR still
pays salaries for workers in factories who are unable to perform because of
COVID. That helps HBR to strengthen workers' trust and also social burden
during pandemic.
2. What relationship do you think there IS between CSR and corporate culture?
=> CSR and corporate culture are intimate and necessary business relationships.
Through rules, ethical standards, or regulations, both have the role of regulating
the behavior of individuals or organizations in business. Through corporate
culture, business ethics influences social responsibility. Corporate culture carries
out social responsibility as the destination for ethical standards. Corporate culture
distinguishes companies in how they operate and work, and it is manifested
through corporate responsibility. Since then, we've been able to observe corporate
culture through CSR activities. The contribution of business to society is the
implementation of social responsibility through ethical standards derived from
corporate behaviour patterns society.
