1. Rita is applying for an office manager's job. The written list of qualifications
includes three years of management experience and experience working in
a fast-paced workplace. What kind of list is this?
This is a job specification which has the eligibility criteria needed to be able
to perform this job successfully. Let’s applicants know of the knowledge,
skills and experience needed.
2. Rachel is the new CEO of a manufacturing company. She wants each worker
to write information about exactly what they do for the company. Which of
the following did Rachel have her employees write?
Job description- this is a general brief statement or information about the
job. Where the nature of the work performed, duty-timing, salary and
responsibilities and other general information are mentioned.
3. John is concerned that the workers in his manufacturing plant will become
bored with their jobs, due to performing the same task over and over.
Which job design approach might John take to provide variety to workers?
Job rotation- one of the methods of reducing boredom from employees
through moving them one job to another within a working group so that
there is variety.
4. Elaborate on the four approaches to job design

Job enrichment- these need to be done in order to motivate employees,


the job must provide opportunities for achievement, recognition and
responsibility and advancement and growth.

Job enlargement- this is where more tasks or work are added to the current
workload. The job remains the same but within a larger scale.

Job simplification- this involves the breaking down if a job in little bits and
each employee are handed a job which is performed over and over again.
Repetitive tasks require less training and costs but boredom and
absenteeism may occur. Done by manufacturing companies.
