JOURNALS REPORT

Teaching English becomes a bit more challenging in an area where it is not spoken as a
native or official language. Ironically, some of teachers still use outdated and less effective
teaching methods which doomed into failure. Many teachers seemed to prefer teaching English
traditionally, such as working some worksheets, discussing the results, and evaluating. Rarely
did the teachers develop the materials in the textbook into a visual or audiovisual activities. As a
student who has been learning English for dozens of years, i found myself difficult in acquiring
English from textbooks or just demanding on teachers lecture because i can’t imagine how native
speakers pronounce some words and use phrases or sentences in their daily.

The modern English language teachers have new duties and challenges given by the New Era.
So it is important for language teachers to be aware of the latest technologies and to stop
following the same old ways of teaching and experiment and acknowledge that the world is
changing and we need to bring change in our methodology of teaching English. Teachers can use
multimedia technology to create more colorful and stimulating language classes.

The topic that i’ll bring in this journal report is about multimedia English teaching. I
choose 3 articles related to this topic with different objects or studies. These are “ The Use of
Multimedia in English Teaching” by Zhang Zen, “ Studies on Multimedia English Teaching
from Student’s Angle of View” by Zefen Zang, and “ Using Films in the Multimedia English
Class” by Youming Wang”.
