UNDERDOGS
the underhives of Necromunda, there are always going to be gangs at the bottom
7 the food chain. Some may have lost too many fights or territory disputes. Others may
simply be unlucky, unfortunate or unfairly persecuted. These are the Underdogs.
e’ve all been there, playing a Necromunda
‘campaign where your gang is starting to make its
presence felt, and the underhive's denizens are
learning to fear them. And then it all comes
unstuck, and you have the worst run of battles ever! Before
‘you know it, your gang is a shadow of its former glory and
seen as easy prey. In these situations, sometimes a
desperate gamble needs to be taken ~ an all or nothing,
attack to regain the gang's lost power and respect.
This is where the Underdog scenarios come in: a set of
high-risk/high-reward scenarios designed to help struggling
gangs get back into the fight. When rolling to determine
which scenario is played, if the Underdog gets to choose
the scenario, they may choose to play one of the scenarios,
featured in this article, Alternatively, the Arbitrator may
decide that one of these scenarios should be played if
they feel that a gang needs the chance to earn some large
bonuses. Each scenario gives players the chance to pitch
the full might of their gangs against each other. It's a very
122
dangerous proposition for the Underdog, but the rewards
can be huge! These scenarios are intentionally unbalanced
and, as such, are not designed for Skirmish play, though if
both players agree, then they can make fora fun challenge.
Desperate Raid sees a gang fighting to escape an enemy
gang's territory, having stolen everything that wasn't nailed
down, In Data-purge, the Underdog gang has been hired to
prevent other gangs from interfering with the data-purging
of some binaric cogitators. The longer they hold out, the
more data is deleted and the greater the reward. Finally, in
Assassinate, a large bounty has been placed on one of the
leaders of a rival gang, and the Underdog is willing to risk
everything in order to collect the reward.
