LAWS AND MORALITY

1. What is the goal of law? What is the goal of morality?


The goal of Law is to set us guidelines. This sets also our provisions and the consequences if we
violate such. Laws are stated for us to comply and to suffer its equivalent recompense. The goal
of law is to attain peaceful and harmonious relations in our society. This will promote
understanding and set rules as well. The goal of morality is to keep the society in one. Its belief
and its moral principles. This is also to uphold and do what is right without hurting anyone. Thus,
is also to resolve differences in our society. This is the innate concern and compassion towards
one another which earns you don’t need a law to do good to someone.

2. Describe your own morality with some traits that you try to emulate. What influenced your
sense of morality?
People’s actions come with his /her moral knowledge and ethical beliefs. They can also be
reflected in the values, practices, and policies that shape the choices made by their decision.
For me, every time I will do something, I will take time to decide if it is the right or wrong thing
to do. It is a combination of what our mind thinks us doing it in action. Before a person decide on
doing something, it will take time for us to think, most of us decides immediately because our
mind is conscious on what we will decide. My family and our religion is what influenced my
sense of morality the most.

3. Which is more important, following the law or following your own moral compass?
The law is already weighted to balance everyone’s moral. Following your own moral compass is
the unstable one.
