MODULE 1: ELECTRICAL
LESSON 1: Electron theory and OHMS Law

Let’s Begin (Activity)

Activity 1:

2.C
3.F
4.B
5.A
Activity 2:
Directions: Solve the following using OHMS Law.
1. Find the current (1) flowing in the circuit if the
voltage is 12 volts and the resistance is 4 ohms?
Solution:
Given: E/V = 12 volts R = 4 ohms
I = E/R
= 12/4
I=3
GIRLYN GRACE RENTUZA ESAGA BTLED-HE 2A

2. Find the applied voltage if the current is 5 ampers

and the resistance is 3 ohms?
Solution:
Given: I = 5 ampers R = 3 ohms
E=IxR
= 5x3
E = 15

3. Find the value of a resistor when the applied

voltage is 24 volts and the current flowing through
the resistor is 8 ampers.
Solution:
Given: E/V = 24 volts R = 8 ampers
R = E/R
= 24/8
R=3

ACTIVITY SHEET 1.1

“Attraction by a charge object “
Supplies and Materials:
Comb
Small pieces of paper
Dry woolen cloth
Wall
Dry fine sad

OBSERVATION:
STEPS REMARKS/COMMENTS
First There is no reaction between the paper and the comb

Step
Second The paper is attached to the charged comb as it is briskly rub by the dry
woolen cloth. This happens because the charged comb induces an opposite
Step charged in the paper and as opposite charge attract, the paper sticks to the
comb.

Third The charge comb attracts the opposite charge on the near end of paper and
similar into the farther end.
Step
Forth The balloon has negative changes leaving the wool with a positive charge
and thus negative attracts to positive changes.
Step
Fifth The balloon stick on the wall because the negative charges in the balloon will
make electrons in the wall, more to other side of their atom and this leaves
Step the surface of the wall positively charge. No, I think it is not the same when
the balloon is not rub.

Sixth The balloon carries negative charge again.

GIRLYN GRACE RENTUZA ESAGA BTLED-HE 2A

Step
Seven The same thing happened; the balloon attracted to the sand. This kind of
electricity that stays fixed on a location with known as static electricity or
Step electricity at rest.

1. What is the nature of matter?
The nature of matter is it occupies space.
2. How will you prove that electricity is a matter?
I will prove that electricity is a matter through
molecule.
3.What is molecule made up?
Molecule is made up of atom.
4.What is the neutral particle of an atom?
The neutral particle of an atom is neutron.

7.An electric heater is rated at 100V and has a hot

resistance of 30 ohms. What current will flow through
it?
Solution:
Given: E = 100V R = 30R
I = E/R
= 100V/30R
I = 3.33

8. An ammeter shows a bulb is using 4 ampers from a

120V source. What is the resistance?
Solution:
Given: E = 120V R = 4A
R = E/R
= 120V/4A
R = 30
GIRLYN GRACE RENTUZA ESAGA BTLED-HE 2A

9. An electric appliance with resistance of 60 ohms

must draw 5A to operate correctly. What is the correct
voltage to use?
Solution:
Given: I = 60 ohms R = 5A
E=IxR
= 60 ohms x 5A
E = 300

10. How much power is consumed by the machine

having a current flow of 6 ampere supplied by a 220-
volt line?
Solution:
Given: E = 220V I = 6A
P=ExI
= 220V x 6A
P = 1,320

LESSON 2: ELECTRIC CIRCUIT

ACTIVITY SHEET 1.2-1
BULB IN SERIES
Supplies and Materials
 2 pieces 1.5 batteries
 2 pieces bulb
 1 meter wire
 3 pieces socket
 1 piece switch
 Electrical tape
Tool
 Pliers
 Screw drivers

OBSERVATION
Steps Remarks/Comments
First - In series circuit the two bulbs has equally distributed, voltage which makes
decrease brightness of the bulbs.
Step
Second - The brightness of each bulb gradually decreases.

Step
Third - As one of the three bulb is unscrewed from the socket, the other bulbs
immediately go out. As serial circuit work if all the device work.
Step
Forth - The flow of electric current is single pathway in such manner that series
circuit is constructed by connecting light bulbs; the bulbs are added the
Step same line with no branching point.

Supplies and Materials
 2 pieces 1.5 batteries
 2 pieces bulb
 1 meter wire
 3 pieces socket
 1-piece switch
 Electric tape
Tool
 Pliers
 Screw drivers

OBSERVATION
Steps Remarks/ Comments
First - The brightness of the bulbs increases and glows brighter.

step
Second - The addition of one more bulb in the set-up causes the indicator bulb to get
brighter. Yes, it adds the brightness of the bulb set up.
Step
Third - There is still current in the overall circuit and current to the other branches.

Step
Forth - As turning off one or two bulbs cuts the flow of charge in the set up.

Step
Fifth - In a parallel circuit the different parts of the electric circuit are on several
different branches.

LESSON 3: SOURCES OF ELECTRICITY

ACTIVITY SHEET 2.3-1
The nuclear power process warms water to
make steam in the first image. The steam B was
used to create energy by spinning enormous
turbines. The heat created during nuclear fission is
used to heat water in nuclear power plants. Atoms
are torn apart to form smaller atoms in nuclear
fission, which releases energy.
The dam's hydroelectric power is shown in the
second image. It is generated using moving water
at hydropower facilities. Water travels via a pipe,
then pushes against and turns turbine blades,
spinning a generator to generate power.
It's the geothermal facility in the third image. It
generates power using steam. The steam comes
from a hot water reservoir discovered miles or
more beneath the earth's surface. Steam turns a
turbine, which turns a generator, which generates
energy.
It's the solar power facility in the last photo.
Photovoltaic panels or mirrors that focus solar
radiation turn sunlight into electrical energy in
solar technologies. This energy can be converted
