EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

1. Purpose of this report

- To analyze the case study 4 Father and Son's Pizzeria and offer solutions and suggestions
based on analyzations for Carlos Vega - a businessman looking for the best option for his
business, who is mentioned in this case study.

2. Overview the Case Study

- When he was young, Carlos Vega showed entrepreneurship. After Vega graduated, he
talked to his ex-boss when he went to his father and his son Pizzeria. His ex-boss wanted
to retire, but he didn't want to sell the business to anyone. Vega had previously bought a
small pizzeria. Next, he pointed out three options to choose from for his business. Focus
on adding a second floor to the pizzeria at his current location, moving to a larger
building in a block with many tables, or selling his red pizza sauce.

3. Problem is being addressed in Case Study

- Carlos Vega is facing an important decision in his business career. Vega is given 3
options to choose. The problem here is that each option has its own advantages and
disadvantages, so this will be a difficult choice for Vega.

ANALYSIS

Analyzing Advantages and Disadvantages of three options

1. The first option: Expand the pizzeria by adding a second floor

i. Advantages:
• Give the pizzeria a new look - new vibes: choose many concepts to decorate the
shop to become more attractive.
• Create more space: increasing the number of visitors. The more guests, the higher
your chances of making money.
ii. Disadvantages:
• High expense and need lots of time: force business to close for a time
• Inconvenience for customers: The risk of reducing customer loss

2. The second option: Moving to a larger building down the block

i. Advantages:
• More tables for customers: Customers will have more space that makes enjoy
their meals in the most comfortable way.
• Opportunity to have more customers – increasing the revenue: many visitors as
well as a large population.
• The problem of parking lot is solved
ii. Disadvantages
• Competition: It will be a fierce competition for Vega as a newly opened store
among many restaurants.
• Cost a lot of money: the cost of moving to a large building is high that is unlikely
to be recovered for a while
• Heavy traffic

3. The last option: turning his focus to selling jars of his red pizza sauce
i. Advantages:
• Has owned a number of customers who love to use its sauce: Vega made more
than 120 liters of sauce and sold out all within 1 week
• Generate a certain and stable revenue: that the needs of customers are increasing
day by day. As we see in the case study, the increasing number of fevers proves
the increased demand from customers
• Customers will have the opportunity to choose, sauce or pizza
ii. Disadvantages:
• Needs a license: to be able to sell red sauce officially, Vega needs a license, which
costs 250,000 USD for one.
• Learn new skills in food manufacturing, packaging and shipping

RECOMMENDATION

1. The best option for Carlos Vega

- I think the third option, switching to selling jars of his red sauce is the most suitable
option for Vega to pursue and run his business in the next time for many reasons:
• help Vega create the most stable and potential cash flow.
• Payable Expense
• Can solve the parking problem by starting to sell and advertise online, a form of
takeaway.
• Learning new skills make Vega improve herself and open up more business
opportunities.

2. Alternative Plan
If Vega choose to relocate his pizzeria:
• Vega should move to the new place but still remains in the central business
district in Guttenberg

3. Unique selling proposition (USP)

“Here we also sell authentic pizzas and exclusive signature sauces that you can buy
and make your own pizza right in your bed! That's why you should choose us”

4. Protecting brand name

• Ask for a patent for the recipe of his food
• Trademark for a specific brand name
• Create logo or slogan and trademark them
• Using trade secret law to protect the recipe

CONCLUSION

In conclusion, three options, which Vega has identified to choose for his business, are
analyzied clearly in positive and negative ways. And in my opinion, the best option for
Vega is turning his focus on selling jars of his sauce because this is the way to make as
much profit as possible and costs the least money. Each option has own benefits and
drawbacks. However, if Vega choose my recommendation, he maybe success in his
career and get a lot of money and more business opportunities.
