1. Differences in Formal and Informal Languages include:

• Formal Language:

1. Writing and pronunciation may not use abbreviations, slang, coloqualisms, clichés
2. Writing pay attention to correct punctuation and spelling
3. Use standard vocabulary and perfect grammar
4. Used for writing business memos, research reports, official news, business letters
5. Pronunciation must be firm and for special purposes business welcomes, news broadcasts, academic
seminars
6. Using modal verbs and whom

• Informal Language

1. Writing and pronunciation may use abbreviations, slang, colloqualisms, cliches


2. The purpose of using informal/casual language to create a cool, intimate and relaxed chat atmosphere
3. There are slang (expressions used by young people) and colloqualisms (expressions used by the wider
community)
4. Used when chatting with close friends, family, and for communication in public places (eg bargaining
or ordering drinks at a cafe)
5. Pronunciation uses a lot of slang and cliches to add expression to the conversation
6. The conversation uses a relaxed tone and the topic is broad but not sensitive

In my opinion lesson learn about formal and informal language are very important to know and to write
and to speak properly

3. Slang and Colloquialism have the following differences

SLANG has the following characteristics:

a. Slang is an oral vocabulary and expression whose vocabulary is created and understood by a special
group of people (young people, professional groups, sports groups).
b. Slang uses vocabulary that is very casual and easy to change over time
c. Example Slang :
1. Bloody Hell (in Harry Potter) used to express anger,shock likely what was that,
2. Hey Dude used to say hi with male close friend

Colloquialism has the following characteristics:

a. Is a vocabulary expression that is easier to understand


b. Its use can be applied in the general public and in public places
c. Example Colloquialism :
1. How's it going ? = How Are You? ,
2. Bite and Snak = Just a few minutes for meal
