World Environment Day Celebration at OPaL

The 45th World Environment Day has been observed at ONGC Petro additions
Limited at its Dahej Site. OPaL carried out a week-long celebration from 05th June to
12th June 2019. During this period various competitions, awareness sessions on
World Environment Day Theme and motivational programs were organized in which
awesome participations from all corners of the organization has been received.

To increase environment awareness amongst employees , the management unveiled


small booklet called “ Green Book” on the environment which contains information
on the concept of 3 R’s , Water conservation, Rain water harvesting, Carbon
footprint, Air Pollution & Control, NAAQMS, 2009, Air Quality Index , Energy
Saving, Cleaner Production , Haz Waste Management, Env Aspect Impact and
environment legal requirement.

To connect employees with the nature, one of the house plant called “CREESULA”
has been distributed to employees during the event.

A platform for action World Environment Day is the United Nations day for
encouraging worldwide awareness and action to protect our environment. Since it
began in 1974, the event has grown to become a global platform for public outreach
that is widely celebrated in over 100 countries.

The theme Each World Environment Day is organized around a theme that draws
attention to a particularly pressing environmental concern. The theme for 2019 is
“Air pollution”.

The host Every World Environment Day has a different host country, where the
official celebrations take place. The focus on the host country helps highlight the
environmental challenges it faces and supports worldwide efforts to address them.
This year's host is China.
