Universities, especially public universities, provide various ways in the new student
admission system such as scholarships, independent, joint entrance exams, etc. One of them is
the self-entry exam. It is common sense that occurs in a society that people who enter the
university by self-entry examinations are called special ways because they spend a lot of
money. Although many people say that the self-entry examination is fraudulent because the
campus system selects candidates who dare to spend more money, they have a greater chance.
I believe that it is actually very important for both universities and students.
Some people who do not agree with the existence of a tuition fee say that the campus
prioritizes money over student abilities because they believe that the campus only accepts
students who pay with a more expensive college entrance system even though there are some
students who are smarter but can’t pay more. Common sense often occurs in society when
someone enters university through a self-entry examination. They assume that the amount of
the entry fee will be used for personal interests that have nothing to do with academics.
This argument has weaknesses because in reality the university needs money to meet
the needs of campus facilities and also the campus will provide the best for its students. College
admissions is a financing component for coaching, developing, and improving the quality of
education as well as supporting the implementation of educational operational activities. Some
universities do not have college admissions, so students who enter through the self -entry
examination are students who enter through pure grades. Based on an interview with
Kompas.com journalists with the Head of the Communication Bureau of the Bogor

Agricultural University (IPB), Yatri Indah Kusumastuti revealed that the amount of the entry
fee does not affect the chances of entering prospective students in the IPB environment. Based
on these interviews, we can find out if the amount of the entry fee is not a determining factor
for students to enter or not in the independent pathway and we cannot immediately say that if
we want to pass the independent pathway, we need to spend a large entry fee.
Based on the arguments above, the amount of money spent by students will be
proportional to the facilities obtained, and the campus can also provide the best for students in
both academic and non-academic fields. Therefore, the procurement of an entry fee system is
necessary for independent entry routes, the amount of which will not affect the entry process.
