Coaching Philosophy

Creedence Cameron

I believe that, as a coach, it is my responsibility to pass on the knowledge that past

coaches had passed on to me. Knowledge is power and it is my duty to create a powerful group

of humans who have the knowledge to not only exceed in athletics but also exceed in life.

As a coach, I value hard work over talent all the time. You can be the most talented

athlete in the world but if you do not work hard, you will not reach your fullest potential. What I

value the most is hard work. I want to show young athletes how to work hard and that talent

doesn’t always mean that someone is better than them. The work put in during a practice will be

put on display during a game or match. At the same time, I, as a coach, will be on display during

matches or games because the practice time is also for me to get better as a coach. That is time

for me to perfect my craft enough that I know what I need to say and do come game time.

I am a firm believer in parent involvement during athletic events. Starting an email chain

is one way I plan to keep parents updated on their student athletes. I will let them know of any

and all upcoming athletic events that we will have. There have been numerous times during my

high school career where my own parents were unaware of upcoming athletic events until I told

them a day or two before. A copy of the entire schedule along with any updates to it throughout

the season is one attachment I plan to have in the emails. With my athletes, I will be the kind of

coach that any athlete can come to with any question or concern they might have.
I will conduct practices as a designated time during the athlete’s day to get better at their

craft. The use of conditioning will not be for punishment during my practices. Conditioning

should be a fun way for athletes to improve their cardiovascular endurance. The amount of time

for practice will not exceed an hour and a half. I believe that an hour and a half is the perfect

amount of time to work hard. Any longer increases the opportunity for injuries. Injury prevention

is a key to longevity in a sport.
