The today around 6 pm I went outside to my front yard to look at the beautiful sunset.

There are different types of trees where I live in my front yard. I live in Oak Hills so it’s pretty

much all desert. But every house is different, for instants, mine is different because my front yard

is the only place that has different trees. For one I have a big Joshua tree in the middle around

others that I can’t name. The environmental part is a bit tricky for me because it was a tiny bit

windy and the weather was cold for me. The tree was pointy so I couldn’t touch it as much and it

didn’t have a smell. It was taller than me of course because I’m 5’0, so I’m very short. But what

I really liked about it was the way the sunset looked in the front of my house. The way the colors

looked and how they blend so perfectly. That bright baby blue sky and how it goes to white and

blend into yellow then orange. Even though it wasn’t officially golden hour I still liked the way it

looked and I’m glad I took that time to step outside and what I also liked was I saw a momma

quail waiting for her chicks and seeing them run across my yard.

The way it made me feel was very emotional and it can because of all the pregnancy

hormones. It wasn’t because I really thought I was just being an emotional hot mess. But I stared

to think and said it wasn’t because I’m emotional, well not all of it. But that I was just happy on

where I'm at in my point in life. What also started this feeling and made it extra special was that

it was on a Sunday afternoon. I felt extremely grateful about how God created everything and

how he created us and just making every part of nature beautiful. I’ve been through a lot in my

life and having this time to really think about I feel happy especially for my baby boy who’s

soon to be born any time soon. It’s hard to explained the feeling I had but I felt warm inside like

how the heat in the summer press against your skin. While I was reading this book there was

something that Aimee said in the book that really spoke to me about how I felt about why I'm so

happy on how far I came in life. “This is the story of how, for years, I pretended I hated the color

blue. But what the peacock can do is remind you of a home you will run away from and run back

to all your life: My favorite color is peacock blue. My favorite color is peacock blue. My favorite

color is peacock blue.”

What I did find interesting was that quails run instead of flying in order to out run the

predator. Also, that the California quail is the state bird and avifaunal emblem of California

according to the Assembly Bill 776 which took effect on August 14, 1931. The lifespan that

quails have is very short and is only 1-4 years but the oldest quail lived 6 years and 11 months

old and they pair with a new mate each year. Not every quail has the same colors. For instant,

male quails have a teardrop shaped plume with a black face and throat lined with white strips and

a gray chest. And the female quails have a brown head and back with a lightly-colored chest and

belly. But the part I find sad is that the male quails are seen as the most beautiful because of their

bold colors. California quails are often found in different environments. Such as, woodlands,

grasslands, foothills, canyons, or the edge of deserts. Even in different counties and states which

I also found interesting because it shows there are different quails around the world. They are

natively found in mostly are California, Oregon (southernmost), Nevada (western) and Baja

California in Mexico. They can also be found in Idaho, Washington, Oregon (northern), Utah

and (southern) parts of British Colombia in Canada but not very common.
